MSI Press Release

"MSI AM3 mainboard fully supports AMD latest 45nm Phenom? II processor and DDR3 memory. In addition, it comes with the AM3 processor which is optimized for the "second-generation DrMOS technology" and "APS (Active Phase Switching) technology", "

I guess those AM3 in Feb estimates may be correct...

AM3 CPUs are compatible with AM2+ mobos (BIOS permitting), right?

My Foxconn 780G micro-ATX board, has an "AM3 ready" logo on it at the Foxconn web page.

Yep. Not all m/bs but a lot of them I think are compatible.

Can't wait for new stuff thats actually affordable. Want to upgrade my 5000+/kn9 sli.. don't want to pay 500 for ram/mobo.

The physical pin layout is compatible but I think it also comes down to whether the board maker set the voltages where they need to be (or has enough tolerance for adjusting to meet requirements of the AM3 CPUs) and is willing to write a new BIOS to support the chips.
