Hello friends,
I intend to upgrade my CPU for Asus M3A78-EM to AM3FX 6100 before I proceed I wish to clear all doubts about compatibility issues and bios updates for it and for me I am in right place to ask from experts about it,my Mobo is AM2+ socket but heard that it also supports AM3 CPU, am I right in this regard, please guide me to the right conclusion,I have coded a link for CPU.
On Mobo manual it does have support description like this
AMD socket AM2+ phenom FX/phenom/Athlon /Sempron CPU support.
Does it refer to the shortlisted CPU or something different.

Code:

I have read somewhere that AM3 CPU can be used, but my point is what does phenom FX mean in the discription of the motherboards,it is confusing or I am not getting right answer,I know AM3+ CPU can't be used on it,or do you mean the shortlisted CPU is a AM3+ ,if no one is sure then suggest a available X4 CPU for M3A78-EM.

With regards

The fx line, all of them, are am3+ cpus. Your board will not support any of them. You will need to buy a am3+ mother board to support the fx 6100,you will also need ddr3 ram,so I would get the mobo that have the 8 gig ram free offer from the egg.If you have to get that first, you can still use your old rig, then get the cpu when time permits.

Thanks for correct answer that FX series is AM3+ socket CPU not AM3 so I can't purchase it but I don't wish to replace my motherboard but only intend to upgrade my CPU possibly a Quad core,so please suggest an available quad core not more than 7k.

Thanks

You'll need a different retailer since flipkart doesn't carry anything to meet your needs. We also need to know what CPU you are upgrading from, so we can offer relevant suggestions.

EDIT>> You also need to verify which motherboard revision you have. See pic for location.
