Hey ! I have a ga-m61p-s3 motherboard which got AM2 socket and i want to buy an athlon II x4 620 which is AM3, i checked the compatibility and it's ok. The fact im worried about is that note on the MB's website

(Note) If you install AMD AM2+ CPU on AM2 motherbord, the system bus speed will downgrade from HT3.0(5200MHz) to HT1.0(2000 MT/s) spec; however, the frequency of AM2+ CPU will not be impacted. Please refer "CPU Support List" for more information.

I want to know if there is any problem if i install that cpu on that mb, or any changes i have to do before :-??.

NOTE : There is the compatibility for that mb, you can check too, maybe i'm wrong . http://www.gigabyte.com/support-downloads/cpu-support-popup.aspx?pid=2434

If it's listed as supported, then it should work fine. Don't worry about the Hypertransport warning- it's just saying that the bus won't be as fast as it would if you put the chip in an AM3 motherboard.

Make sure you update the BIOS before you put the new chip in! It requires version F7I.

Ah, right, i looked onto 620e, and there was listed a 'N/A' to the bios version, that's what i was worried about, now i see :D Thanks. About the HT, does that affect the performance, if yes, how much ?
