Well, I went to MC today and I did spring for the i5. THey had a nice bundle of the i5 2500k and ASUS P8P67 MB for $299.99 - which is about double what I wanted to spend, but I think it was worthwhile. This system should easily last me for 4-5 years.

I actually gave up AM3 when I recently made my new gaming machine.
AMD was great for a while but in the past couple years Intel finally caught up with both value and performance.
