AM2 Stock fan and retention bracket

Hey guys,

I just built my first am2 system for a friend tonight and it runs great.

He got the Asus M2N-e and a 3800 am2.

I installed the processor and then went to put the fan on and i was like what the hell. Unlike the 939 chipsets this fan mounts different. Like the lever that usually latched onto the motherboard on the 939 board, doesnt latch on the am2 board. I checked the instructions and it looks like im correct. Anyone else seen this? It didnt unlatch but it was weird.

 
Yes, I had a VERY VERY hard time getting the stock AMD heatsink to mount (even tried pushing latch down with a screwdriver), then I gave up and used my Freezer 64 and that latched very easily.
 
it is a really weird install. Runs great though. He got a 7900gt superclock and gets like 9300 in 3dmark05.
