I'm interested in getting an AM2 motherboard, and have no idea what chipsets to look for, or other features that are likely to increase system performance. (other than just putting in a faster processor)
I'm asking this because I've built a couple of systems in the past where they had the same hard drive, same processor, same memory, same OS, but one of the systems seemed noticeably faster.
Last time I was looking this stuff over, it was a tossup for me between going with an Nforce 2 or Nforce3 chipset, so it's been a while.
I would definitely like some sort of quality onboard video, plus Gigabit LAN
My main question is regarding chipsets and I/O concerns that would affect system speed
ability to overclock CPU & Memory 15 or 20% independent of the system buses, etc., would be a definite plus, but not necessary
Can anyone bring me up to date?
For example, would an AM2+ board likely have a lot faster system specs, or would I just be wasting my money? Thanks!
