Hey guys,

I'm on a very tight budget and need to find a motherboard which can support 4 IDE devices.
What I have at the moment:

2 IDE Maxtor 80gb drives
2 IDE DVD/RW drives
AMD x2 4200 AM2 Socket processor
Nvidia 7800GTX
Antec NeoHW 480watt

But no motherboard for these pieces. I can't afford to get a sata drive aswell.

Please please recommend me a motherboard which can support these nice little pieces and which will give me gaming capability ( not high end obviously, but to some degree decent performance)

I just can't seem to find a good am2 motherboard with 2 ide plugs.

Thanks

Those are what I could find that I would trust. I've used the MSI board a couple times, and like it, but you do end up using a bit older chipset. I have no idea if gaming performance is affected in any way by any tweaks, or lack of, being a "Quadro".

This one has a chipset that is pretty normal. The price is a bit hefty, though.

15 AM2 boards with 2 x PATA connections:

Deleted all with VIA chipset--sorry, can't recommend it--and SIS--same--and boards with poor reviews, which leaves these seven:

I personally don't like the type of chipset fan on this one:

This one also has chipset fan, so I would eliminate that as well myself:

Leaves these five to choose from: by reading the user reviews, you may see something that rules a certain board in or out, so you can choose...

And one more thing: an IDE card, about $20...

Or, one of these PCI add in IDE controllers, some RAID capable:
