AM2 Heatsink Retention Bracket

I bought a new AM2 board the other day. It came in but doesnt have the stock heatsink retention bracket. Can someone point me in the direction to buy these? Thanks.

If it's brand new (and not a refurb), I would contact your vender about getting one. I found one on ebay for $6.99 plus $3.25 shipping using yahoo. The seller is lumpyoats. Unable to post a link.

I bought two of these (one spare), due to the original one broke. I'm using a freezer 64 pro HSF and while moving the pc the retention module broke.

I got them in the UK very cheap sometime ago from a small retailer. IIRC Thermalright or Thermaltake also make them (not sure with this though).

You should find them if you keep on Googling. May also want to try Ebay.

Found it (uk).

I would imagine that the motherboard came with one. Most are already mounted, but I remember BITD that occasionally a brand would have the stuff in the motherboard box, but not mounted. What board was it and where did you buy it? It was brand new?

Well having a feeling that it was a refurb. I bought it on ebay. Didnt come with the backplate or the retention bracket. I checked our thermalright and they have both but they are sold seperately and the bracket is for one of their heatsinks, so it may need modification to work with the OEM heatsink.

Oh and it was MSI

On a side note, do you guys maybe know of a cheap aftermarket heatsink that requires you to remove the OEM retention bracket and backplate? Thinking I can just buy that. Thanks.

The Thermalright AM2 Retention Module fits my Stock HSF and Arctic Cooling Freezer 64 Pro, so you should be ok.
