Am looking for a New Laptop to replace my Toshiba Tablet PC

I will use this laptop to do presentations to clients on the road so it must look sharp, the tablet PC is ok, it still runs ok (hd thrashes a bit and the case has a crack in one of the corners) so i can't use this for presentations anymore.

i started with a Large 15" screen desktop replacement 4 yrs ago, after 2 yrs with that one, i went to this small 12" screen tablet PC.

now what do you guys think i should get?

i'm leaning towards one of the lighter 15" laptops. I saw an Averatec one that looked about the right size and feature base but not convinced the Averatec will be durable enough.

IBM makes great products but it's a bit more than i want to spend.

i'm looking to spend between $1500.00 to $1800.00

any suggestions?

You can check out the HP dv1000. 14.4" widescreen Centrino notebook; comes pretty fully loaded at $1500.
The Sony FS550 is decent, but mediocre battery life and a relatively high price tag ($1600) are the downside.
You can get a Thinkpad T42 for around $1500. If you want something reliable, that is the way to go. They will last forever and have both 14" and 15" models.

I bought an averatec, mainly because my brother used it in iraq for 8 months and it lastedhim over there. he of course kept it in a case when not in use. he never really had anytrouble with his. I have had mine for 4 months now and no problems either and have taken it on multiple trips.

Dont jump the gun man, I will be waiting for some time before I order one. I am not in the financial condition at the moment and I don't think Asus finances. So, I will wait until about May/ June to order one but I will get one then for sure.

All the info he can provide is trumped by the fact that there is no price set for the models yet 🙂
