That's just what I've tried to do, but he just wouldn't listen. I told him all the symptoms before he went there, I guess he wouldn't listen because he thinks I'm talking about something I don't know about. He clearly told me that what I'm saying is nonsense and he believes them after he came back. I tried to explain to him how the pc booting procedure is like, but he just told me to complain to the pc shop guys if I have problem with it... and..why should I do that.. god..

wait til the drive dies then stand over him as he's kicking the box tilt your head, rub your chin thoughtfully and say out loud.."I wonder what could be wrong with it. You should take it to a shop" Fully knowing its the hard drive. Repeat for any future computer issues. Then when he asks you for his data, tell him sincerely that you MAY not have it since it obviously wasn't a drive problem, you couldn't see a reason to spare any space for it. That's something I'd do to users who believe that I am a useless part of my organization and they could easily replace me. Their data will inevitably be lost, they go to you, the techie type guy for the data back, and you shrug back. Oh so sweet. Then you look like god almighty when you whip out your ERD or disk recovery software and do a jesus like act of miraculousness...if you're feeling benevolent that day.

Assist any cute girls nearby tho with utmost comptency and .... flair.

If he is your superior, back his data up. If he's not, fvck him. SMART isnt playing around. The grinding noise you heard was probably the head hitting the platter. If so, its already done permanent damage, and if it happens once, it will happen again. That HD is on its death bed, and its not a matter of if, its a matter of when.

yea, it's irritating to argue with ignorant people.

anyway, i had a hd that says "smart drive failure. replace hard drive" or something. on the same day my replacement came, the message disappeared. that was weird.
