Am I the only person who HATES day after thanksgiving shoppers?

WTF is wrong with you people? Ugh. Years ago I worked for best buy as a tech bench person (before the geek squad crap started) and the type of person that will wait in a line that wraps around the building TWICE (many of them getting in line the NIGHT BEFORE) are obnoxious ornery people..

Look, it isn't worth saving $50 to wait in lines fighting with people for hours and hours.

/me will be cozy in his bed

I'm right there with ya. I'll go out of my way to not even leave the house that day. The wife on the other hand.....

They don't bother me... 'cause like you... I'm at home sleepin while they are out fighting with everyone. 🙂

My wife and her sister on the other hand love it... they'll be up at 3am, pounding coffee, just to be ready to go.

You seriously think people spend 12+ hours in cold weather to save $50? Hate is a strong world, especially when its emphasized in all caps. Perhaps you should save that word for something you have a little more knowledge about.

QFT.

It's not just to save money on something but it's fun. Last year, I went with my wife and a group of friends and we had chairs, coffee, hot chocolate and had a blast.

Ive worked retail for years... it is hell. I hate BF with a freaking passion. Thank god I'm done with retail next week 🙂

It's the thrill of the hunt, IMHO.

i don't see how that could be fun at all.

I used to never go out on Black Friday, but have in the past three years. I've never once stood in line for more than 30 minutes on a Black Friday, and never outside a store. Just after buying two or three items, I can save $100-200.

I can understand why it would suck for an employee, especially at Best Buy. But I have had decent experiences at Wal-Mart, Target, EB Games, and various mall stores.

That plays a big part of it too.

30 minutes in line? hell, more than 5 minutes in line is terrible.

The mall was kind of freakish the last 2 BF's that I worked. There would be TONS of people EVERYWHERE, but half of them were just looking. Litterally. No bags from other stores, half the people walking through the mall didn't have anything. Seems a bit pointless to go window shopping on one of the most packed days of the year.

I made enough profit (ebay) last year on black friday to support myself and my disabled kid for a month and a half.

You know what I hate? Nasty store employees who treat black friday shoppers like lowlife morons.

To us, it somewhat signals the start of the christmas season. It is a tradition with us. We choose where we want to go and what we want to buy the night before, we plan our strategy and go. There are some great deals, it is about the thrill of the hunt. THat is the only time we will face any crowd at a mall, store, etc. during the christmas season.
To each is to own for sure, but i enjoy it!

You work a few BFs in retail and you see how you treat people.... You know what we get for working BF? A lunch and dinner during our 20 hour shift of crazy amounts of people... many of which are pissed off screaming at you because you only had a certain amount. Try it out and see how you treat people.

Then go look at xmas lights. The reason I hate it (and I do mean HATE) is not the event, but the mentality of the people that get up that early and go through that much BS to save a couple bucks. For one, most of the people have too much free time on their hands (stay at home moms, etc). Secondly, it's the type that would freak out and hold up a line of 20 people because something rings up .10 too much. It's just an odd mentality that I despise.

Don't get me wrong, I'm a poor college student and can't afford to buy whatever I want, but I still will not get in those damn lines.

It is not that we cannot afford to buy the "regular" priced items, its just something we find fun. And, no, we (husband and I) are not either of the types of people you mentioned. We both work, are DINK's, and don't ever worry about something as small as .10 overage at the check out.
It is fun to us, we enjoy getting a good deal on something we want. 🙂
