Am I the only person who doesn't care about the superbowl?

StageLeft

No Lifer
I'm a 23 year old male and not until this morning did I even know who was playing. Baltimore and...er, damn I forget the other one. I am looking forward to survivor 2.

Its not entirely my fault. We were born in Britain and came here when I was 7. My dad thinks he is above North American pass times and so never introduced us to mainstream sports (we did things like sail). As a result I feel I am ill-equiped to teach my children about anything like this when they grow up, and so they will suffer from the same thing I do: When I'm with a group of people and they start talking about "Boston did this last night" or "did you see Florida do" I tune out.

So, I'm ignorant, but why do people really get in such tatters over a football game? Although I don't know who is playing I bet there are millions of Superbowl fans who don't know anything about problems in the middle east or that Nissan is releasing it's new sports car next year 😛

Nope, you're not alone.
I dont' care about it either. First of all, I have no idea who the teams are. And second of all, I don't care too much about football. Blame it on the fact that I didn't move here until age 14. I mean, I dont' mind watching them every once in a while, but I'm certainly not excited about this weekend.

Yeah, don't get me wrong. I like football movies, and I see why people would like football (baseball on the other hand I have no idea why people like to watch that), I just don't like it enough to watch it.

Another 'couldn't care less' person here.

Just like what some of you folks have already said, I don't DISLIKE it, I just don't GET INTO IT.

And I couldn't agree more about Baseball, if I can stay awake passed the 3rd inning it's because I must be going through a bit of insomnia.

i don't care about it either.. and wierd thing is, i know my girlfriend (thoug i dunno bout the friend part any more she hasn't talked to me since tuesday) likes football more than i do, well she watchs it more.

I love the Superbowl, and I'm very into football, but this year's game just doesn't do it for me. The teams, as good as they are (obviously, they made it to the Superbowl), just don't have the rivalry or aggression that you come to expect from a good Superbowl matchup. I think the game itself will be mediocre at best. Oh well, at least it's an excuse for me to gorge myself and drink some beers. 🙂

BTW, did anyone see the Daily Show with interviews of Balimore and NY fans? That was fscking hilarious. 😀

same here, i know the teams that are playing, but not much more than that. guess because i came here at 14 and never really got into mainstream sports.

Hockey is the only sport worth watching!

btw, I always watch the superbowl for some reason...but I never watch another football game throughout the year.

Skoorb - might be that being Canucks has something to do with it too - I don't care and can't even watch it for the commercials as Global or whoever picks it up will just dump in the usual Canadian commercials instead.

Actually, not one of us here at work (15 young guys) even knows both teams playing!

An the other hand, we can debate whats wrong with the Leafs this year for a good hour! 😀

Chalk up another "couldn't care less" person. Skoorb, let's go to the Palace Sunday night instead!!! 😉

It is about hte only football game I watch all year. It gives me a chance to drink some beers and watch the commercials.

I didn't know who was playing until last night, honestly.

22 y/o male - no interest what so ever.

My girlfriend has more desire to watch it than i do :\

You can add me in.........and I'm in my 30's! Just don't care for the Sport......don't mind it, and will watch if it's a "local" team in the Superbowl.....but other than that......funny thing is, I have a brother in-law who played Big 12 college Football, and I played Basketball......just burnt out on Sports I guess! 😉

I love the Superbowl and I am a big football fan in general. But since I hate both teams playing this year, it really is no big deal for me either.

I won't be watching it. I'm more interested in seeing what the XFL games are like. American football bores me to death. A few seconds of action then everybody stands around for awhile. YAWN

All of you who don't care about the SUPERBOWL need to start packing soon if you live in the U.S. You will be soon excommunicated to a small South Pacific island where a lame reality-TV show will be based on you. 😛

Do the comercials count? I really don't care about the game, other than hockey pro sports don't interest me. College and HS sports are more fun to watch IMHO.

I love football and the Superbowl, but the teams this year, including that wannabe-human Ray Lewis turn me off big time.
