You're more likely to get struck by lightning and die than be in an airplane crash. Yes, you are alone. ;)

Why do you think so many people have to have a drink or take sedatives before a flight?
It's very common.
I got over something similar by finally saying to myself: "I'm tired of being scarred all the time--I may DIE doing this, but I'm going to do it anyway, and just enjoy myself". *It wasn't easy*, but it worked. Very liberating!

Planes are the 3rd safest form of transportion. The only ones that are safer, is the elevator, and one other thing.

I have flown in commercial jets as well as small 5 seater planes and have been in a few hot air baloons as well.

It can be scary, especially the small planes, but when you get to your destination that fast, you feel fine with it.

you should just do it, but dont fly in a small plane, you will feel every little bump and jolt. fly the biggest plane possible and you should be alright.

you should be scared of airline customer service and the possibility of getting your luggage lost more than of the actual flying part.

You should be afraid, the chances you will get run over by a shuttle bus driver when entering the terminal are very real...........

I've only flown twice in 28 years.

Yes, you are alone.

It's not a big deal. Everybody dies sometime. If your time happens to come on an airplane, then what can you do?

Not at all. I was on a train from San Diego to Seattle (this is an awesome train ride BTW), and there is a surpringly huge sect of people who who rather not fly (some of which I met on the train). It's actually very interesting. Personally, I love to fly and love to go places. I'm not worried about dying from a plane crash (I don't want to get mauled and live though), b/c its safer than driving and I do that everyday.

I was afraid of flying and then two years ago I finally tried it. The view was breathtaking. However, I was still getting over being sick and my equilibrium was messed up so I felt that I was flying backward the whole time, lol.

what part of flying actually scares you?

is it the fear of dying in a plane crash?
or the claustrophobia of the crowded cabin?

I used to fly with no problem at all.
Now it scares me to think of getting into such a tight crowded space with no exit.
I've turned into a major control freak in my old age.

Face your fears!!

Go to your small local airport and find someone who does flight instructioon and ask for an introductory flight in a Cessna 152 (a small single engine two-seat plane commonly used in beginner flight training).

I have a private pilot's license and my dad was terrified until I got to spend some time with him around a couple small airports. Learning about the small airplanes (which are fundamentally the same as the big ones) at least takes the uncertainty out of flying. Now he has the same fascination as i do!!!

Trust me, do it, you'll love it!!
