Who here has never seen GoT and most likely never going to watch it? I swear it feels like I'm the only human being who *dislike* GoT. Pls stop this over hyped train.. :D

So you haven't watched any of it, and seem almost proud about it, and also claim to dislike it? "I hate broccoli", said the brat who never tasted broccoli. The show itself can't be blamed for the hype, it's just that a significant amount of mass media and the viewership find it to be good enough to create said hype. Of course, your dislike of everything surrounding the show, would color your impressions of the show itself, if you actually bothered to watch it. So you will most likely dislike it, even if you would have liked it had you watched before the hype established.

I started watching in September last year, and binge watched the four seasons. Before I didn't know what the big deal was either. However, I hadn't decided that I hated it without actually having a clue what it was about. From media I knew there were sex scenes, colored weddings, dragons and gore, but I still didn't have a clue about how all that was tied together. I hadn't decided anything about it before watching it. I've had many enjoyable hours watching the show, and it's just my thing, because it has a vast backstory/universe, which is the key to most games, shows and franchises I like. I've started reading the books to explore more of the backstory, which I also tried before watching the show. The first time I couldn't get past the second chapter, now I am well into the second book.

Now if you will excuse me, I will get back to reading being an asshole.

rent it from the library or download the first episode first. i think it's free at a couple of sites
Available in Blu-ray at local library. Still not sure about watching the series, even if I have HBO.

B Not sure what the hype is about.

Every show that focuses on shady backroom politics with the guy/gal who is a snake who follows the "ends justifies the means as far as getting my goals are accomplished" owes a bit of a debt to GoT.

GoT is fantasy but the dirty politics is an integral and I'd argue influential part of the show.

I do not have cable so I never saw the show until one late night at Courtyard hotel. I saw about 1/2 episode and was not impressed.

There's never anything good on TV.

lol. only these:

Breaking Bad. Every single season was bad ass.
NCIS. Lost interest after season 5 but 1-5 was amazing story writing and characters.
Stargate SG-1. Season 1-6 awesome, got worse every year after till awful season 10. Obviously not a show for non sci-fi fans.
Arrow. Season 1 was A+++, Season 2 A+ but got off to a slow start.
GoT. Anyone who doesn't like this should be shot on sight. Jesus, what more do you want in a show?
House of Cards.

Put some effort into it. There's a lot of crap TV but a lot of gems too.

I think GoT is the best TV show I've seen. Season 5 wasn't as consistently good as the other 4 seasons, but still. I'd say it beats out other amazing recent shows like Breaking Bad. It really feels like we're living in an incredible time for TV, I couldn't imagine things being like this 10 years ago.

I actually didn't enjoy the first episode very much at all, but the cliffhanger at the end was enough to keep me watching so it did its job. Things picked up a lot since then. I've never had much problem keeping up with the many different plots and characters, but it's the kind of show that feels like it'd be good to rewatch at some point (the wikia also helps)

I'd read the books if I wasn't practically illiterate :/

In so many ways it is just a soap opera, like most dramas on TV I guess, but it's impressive in scope and scale in a way that you do not really see on television, even though TV is, seemingly, the dominant medium these days.
Examples? IIRC I've seen a clip online, where a man slices up the woman's belly with the baby inside her belly lmao not sure if that was game of thrones.

If you haven't seen it you probably shouldn't try to classify/describe it >_> I don't think it's like a soap opera beyond the very superficial similarity of being a serial dramatic story. That may not have been much of a thing for TV until recently, but that's really down to technical issues. People nearly always watched the show as it aired and it was too much to count on them to never miss an episode, so the meat of the stories were pretty self contained to an episode or two. These days people can watch and rewatch things online at their leisure or at least DVR, so it's much more realistic to rely on them watching everything. Soaps may have been able to get away with this longer since they had a more captive and regular audience, but they suffered from many other problems (one of of which involved being marketed almost exclusively to older stay at home women, while shows like GoT are made appealing to pretty much everyone)

Having a broad scope is kind of an odd way to put what you did.. the show is shocking and brutral, it doesn't pull punches and it very often upsets the viewer and betrays their expectations. I wouldn't call that impressive in scope and scale, but I would say that the show is sufficiently epic and very multi-faceted in a way that's still accessible to a normal viewer.

... and not planning to watch it any time soon? Seriously.. is it really that good? I pretty much know who died etc cuz of GoT fanatics boasting it on the internet, it's kinda hard not to miss since everywhere I browse it's freaking GoT! Then again, I will most likely to forget the names or the person who died and whatnot.

Who here has never seen GoT and most likely never going to watch it? I swear it feels like I'm the only human being who *dislike* GoT. Pls stop this over hyped train.. :D

Off topic - Is it REALLY that guuuuud? Like for reals? Wtf.. D:
I've heard theirs loads of sex scenes better than Fifhty Shades of Grey (6/10 I read the book don't hate)? If yes then why are kids age 13 and younger enjoying GoT? Wtf? I swear every primary kid seen GoT!!!! Is this real life?

Yes it is that good.

I thought a bit like you last year when I hadent seen it. Then since yet another person rambled on about how good it was I watched it for the first time. I thought it was just lord of the rings with tits, why not watch porn instead. But no its way better than LOTR. I think its probably the best TV series ive ever seen tbh. Defo watch the first season and see what you think

I've never seen a moment of GoT either ...

imo it's a great show and series of books but it is still just entertainment, albeit quality entertainment.

It may just not appeal to you. If you were to ask me I'd say rent the 1st season and see.

there is also a GoT wiki page that deals with the show if you decide to watch and want more background info.
http://gameofthrones.wikia.com/wiki/Game_of_Thrones_Wiki

There shows I've heard are good but haven't gotten around to watching yet... just not enough time in a day or week.

I don't have HBO and have been contemplating buying the series through Amazon Prime. Is Season 1 worth the $25 and each season after worth $30? Over $100 for a show?

That's ~$2.50/hour/number of watching and likely FAR more entertainment than you'd get seeing a movie in the theater.

i've never watched game of thrones, lost, breaking bad, heroes, walking dead, and i'm sure there's a whole bunch more i can't think of right now. and twin peaks. and sex & the city.

i also largely missed friends, seinfield .. again, many i don't remember. i find it a turn-off when everybody watches the same thing.
