Am I the only one?

Who's insane about final fantasy release tomorrow (march 9) !!!!!!!!!!

Woooooooooooooooooooooooooooooot

I'm going to the midnight launch tonight, and I'm excited. The only major pitfall I've seen so far is that it's linear. Ten was way linear too though, with a crummy story to boot, and I still enjoyed it a LOT because of the battle system and sphere grid.

I don't know anyone that's played it that actually liked it much. I know a few that imported it and their impressions kept me from importing. My daughter is getting it and if she ever finishes, I might borrow from her.

The latest Final Fantasy games are so overproduced its ridiculous. I wish they would get back to basics and stop spending so much money on gimics. They also need to realize that don't have to force feed us wierd ass battle systems just so they can say its different from the past ones. First off, I loathe ATB and any derivative of it. Second off, linear is fine but FFXIII is practically a rail shooter from what I have seen. They could have just made FFXIII the movie and been done with it. Wow i'm starting to get MGS4 flash backs. lmao.

Anyways, I'll end up buying the newest Final Fantasy, as I always end up doing, but i'm not excited these days because it isn't the same anymore. Whats sad is that other companies are doing Final Fantasy better than Squaresoft. Lost Odyssey was pretty much FF in everything but name, and it was better than some of the recent FF games. I'm more excited about Lost Odyssey 2 (I hope its coming)than I am about FFXIII

Persona 5? Sure, I'd be ultra-mega-excited with a pre-order from Amazon.

But, frankly, the recent Final Fantasy games have been of uneven enough quality that it's tempered my enthusiasm - not to mention the early reviews of FF13 basically saying that the first 15 hours of the game are a brutal slog.

I'll pick it up eventually, no doubt about it, but S-E lost my undying fanaticism a while back...

The more I read, the less I want it. I *was* excited for it. Now? Maybe when its a Platinum Hit or something. No open world exploration, no towns, no big rewards.

Seriously I can't wait for Persona 5 on PS3 with a new engine. It will be awesome....wonder how many years I gotta wait 🙁

I think the Final Fantasy series has become a victim of it's own success. They can't change the formula because people complain, but they can't keep it the same because people complain. I think FFXIII makes some pretty damn bold changes, and while I think they are moving more away from RPG than they are reinventing it, it still looks pretty interesting. The battle system sounds fun and the story is supposedly pretty damn good. I'm one who doesn't care for micromanagement, so that's probably why I'm more interested in it than others.

Everything I've read about it (including the rant at Megatokyo) makes me want to wait to buy it at $20 . . . maybe not even then.

I've had my copy pre-ordered from Amazon for a while but I do expect to have this game up for sale shortly after I beat it. Something keeps telling me I'm going to be underwhelmed with this game yet I still won't cancel my pre-order. Hmm...:hmm:
