Am I the only one who thinks that stand-alone MP3 players are sort of a waste?

they do... $45/mo.... I wonder if you can just use your minutes (albeit at dial-up speeds) with the Treo 650... I do it now with my 600.

People still use MP3s? o_O

I have no phone, no MP3 player, no laptop, and no PDA. If I had to get some of these things, I might get a GOOD mp3 player (a combo phone/mp3 player is likely not going to suit what I want in an mp3 player). I don't want to pay extra money every month just so everyone can reach me at all times; I like being inaccessible, and I save money in the process. I've always hated PDAs.

besides more capacity, what do you want in an mp3 player ? I'm curious... because the PDA phones run software, which can be written to do anything you want... so what special features do you want ?

Persionally i have no need for a PDA at this time, and i like my phone being nice and small. I would much rather be able to grab my 30 gig mp3 player if i want to have all of my CD's with me anywhere i am. Any all in one device that can store that much music will be too big for me to carry around in my pocket every day all day, at least for now. That and i'd rather not need to replace one extremely expensive device if it gets lost or needs to be upgraded.

If a PSP could act as a cell phone, and has a long battery life then that would be the killer app.

I really don't have a need for a portable mp3 player. I have a cd player in my car.

I wouldn't want my cell phone doing a lot of other functions and wearing down the batteries.

It seems like a PDA/phone might be a much better investment. Organizer, phone, entertainment, email, web browser, etc...

Are there any all-in-one PDA phones? or am I just making sh!t up?

I have a PSP, a Cell phone and camera for my 3 tech toys. the psp handles everything, the cell is basic basic for calls whenever I need em, and the camera I went all out on (Sony DSC F707, bought it a year or so ago)

Well it all depends on how you use it?

I use mine while working out and also in the car. To me it's a priceless investment because I listen to music any chance I get. I've got a 3rd gen 20GB still going strong with no problems... I've had it 2 years now and it's still on the original battery too...

Do you have a cell phone?

I just think it would be better to have all your portable devices rolled up into one small package.
I have an older nokia cell phone and I like to keep it seperate. I wouldn't want a phone that plays mp3's... I like when something is made for a specific purpose... no it doesn't make it necessarily better, but when I want to talk on the phone I want to use my phone, when I want to listen to music on the go, I'll listen to my ipod.

I've got a big collection of music and most of it is on my ipod, so flash players don't really work for me.

Because, when I use a PDA, all I use it for is simple games and playing mp3's. I don't use the web browser... the screens are too small, there is no keyboard. I don't want a cell phone PDA because they are HUGE, I'd much rather have a small cellphone and an iPod, especially because the space per gigabyte is much less then having to pay for sd cards or what ever for PDA. It's a pain to switch out cards... ect.
