Am i the only one who thinks Nickleback is mediocre music?

I guess I must be one of the few... because this stuff is so popular. It's always at the top of the charts on the local alternative/rock stations, and it's my understanding that it's also quite high on the top 40 charts.

This music has been done before...I feel like I am hearing stuff from 5 years ago. It's disgustingly mediocre and overdone. Am I the only one who can't stand their reptitive music and annoying vocals? Please tell me I'm not alone. I have heard so much better stuff just from local bands in my city who play for fun. Why oh why is such crap so popular?

the lead singer of nickleback looks alot like tom green with longer hair... therefor i cannot take the band seriously.

I haven't heard any of their other songs but I did like that one song when it initially came out. I got really sick of it, mainly cause they overplayed it. Still I did initially like the song so I guess I'm one of the people that helped in getting it popular.

Nickelback isn't that great of a band.

MGB is far superior.

I like 'em. I think they are an alright band. Nothing too special, but they aren't horrible.

But then this is all the matter of opinion, right? This is the only way to guage a truly great band, so then they must be great.

 

Same depressing crap that is on all the rock stations now. Rock music is stagnant right now.

I was just seeing who agreed with me here..."rock" just seems to be getting worse and worse. sigh

I get tired of their music quick, but they ROCK live! They put on one of the best live shows Ive seen.

I agree with you Kami, their music is nothing special, they are not good and not bad, so I sortof like them since there are soooo many bad bands out there that.

I've been a Nickelback fan for years (I live in Vancouver, where the band lives), and I've seen them play a ton of times. All of their concerts here are AWESOME, as they play new songs no one has heard before, a lot of old stuff, and some covers etc. I personally prefer their previous two albums to Silver Side Up; Curb, and The State.

I went to their New Year's Eve concert just a few days ago, and honestly, I was disappointed. They played mostly new songs, and it didn't seem to me as though they played for as long as in previous concerts. Also, the crowd was full of a bunch of "How You Remind Me" fans who sang along to that song, but were completely lost for the others. There is one song that Nickelback has performed live in Vancouver for years, has never released, and (afaik) plays rarely, if ever, on the road. And they didn't play it on New Year's...

I really really enjoyed the band's live shows a long time ago, when it was only 200 people at a beer garden on campus at UBC, or 1000 die hard fans at the Commodore, all singing along to the old NB songs.

Oh, and another thing that really gets to me:

I'm sure many of you have a local band you consider to be "your band." They're not the greatest in the world, and don't sell many records, but you think they're the best, and love going to their concerts. That's what I was like with Nickelback until they released Silver Side Up. Now they have all the stupid teeny-boppers who go from listening to hit single after hit single on their bandwagon, and I'll be lucky to see my band once a year from the back of a 10 000 seat area, after paying $50 for a ticket.

I live in Vancouver as well and know exactly how you feel. I did not go to the new years bash with Nickelback but saw them quite a few times.

They are definatly a great band live but lately I have heard some complaints form others as well.
