I've always marvelled at the iphone. It is sleek, awesome looking, can play cool games, has loads of memory, etc..
Once I heard the next iteration will come with 3g and priced favorably, I wanted one.
I was hoping I can do a jailbreak since most of my gripes about the phone is solved with the non-itunes apps.
Well, now that I have it, here are my complaints:
First, stuff that hopefully can be remedied by future apps:
No terminal, no ssh client, no text editor, no pdf viewer, no ODS/document viewer/editor, terrible program organization, I hate the icons management, BT/3g/wifi/screenbrightness can't be accessed directly (takes multiple steps), takes multiple steps to make a damn phone call, no standard voice dialer (WTF?!..and the voicedialer app in itunes doesn't count, that's not a true voice dialer since it doesn't make use of the BT's voice-dialer button), only safari+calculator+youtube can be tilted, can't view redtube (youpr0n's mobile site kinda blows), no way to continue to run certain programs when you "home" out of it.
Stuff that will not be remedied:
itunes took over my computer, itunes suck, itunes uses too many processes to even run with the iphone, you can't drag/drop any filetype, lack of flash support, no stylus+handwriting recognition, calander is a bit of a joke (not comprehensive), i phokking hate itunes, itunes suck, and itunes invaded my computer. Ringtone implementation sucks though (although I use audacity+convert-to-acc+rename-to-m4r works).
<^> apple.
Cultural stuff that I dislike:
Justin Long...enough said (i don't like the character; the actor himself is ok and I have nothing personal against him. It's just the character portrayal I dislike).
There's, of course, many good things about it. I do like the implementation of the contacts and email. Games are awesome. google maps w/ gps is very nice. The Pandora and AOL radio is friggin GODSENT (best iphone media apps). The entire implementation of contacts/addresses/maps/etc is very nice. Stuffing about 13 gigs of my fav. music is nice too. Itunes at least makes it easy to rip my cd's and such.
Oh, and it looks nice...
Oh well, I wish I could've waited for a nice qwerty phones that are coming out w/ windows mobile. Google's OS is coming out, and I heard there will be linux-based phones.
Bleh.
EDIT: sigh, I just noticed that this thread is useless because most of the things I've mentioned have been mentioned in some of the threads I just read in this forum. To save any trouble, just lock it, and I will take this discussion to the other thread. Sorry mods..
