Am I the only one who is disappointed with the new Office & Earl?

I enjoyed the last seasons of The Office & My Name is Earl, but I've been really disappointed by both new episodes in each series. The last Office ("The Convention") was kinda-sorta funny, but it didn't have me rofl like last season (Drug Test episode anyone?). Anyone else unimpressed so far?

I really hope Lost is still good :(

The Convention episode had it's moments, the blacklight had me in tears. I haven't been all that impressed with Earl, the whole thing with his brother spacing out thinking of the maid half-naked was not funny in the least, almost like something you would see a Bugs Bunny cartoon.

I think they screwed up with Jim. He was kind of the nexus of the Office...Jim/Michael, Jim/Dwight, Jim/Pam. Now it's Jim/dumb new office & no Jim/old office. Not as much fun imo. I hope they bring him back.

I also look forward to the end of Earl when they're going to sleep - they usually have some pretty funny endings after the show, but it was just bleh last night.

Heh, yeah...

"You should talk to Roy, he could relate to what you're going through."

"Oh my gosh! Dwight got a hooker! I have to tell someone...who can I tell?!"

Agree 100%. With Jim outside the office environment, the comedic chemistry is lost. I'll be surprised and disappointed if he's not back working there within 2 more episodes.

They have dumbed-down(?) Randy too much in Earl. Now he really is like a cartoon character. I have lost much interest in that show. Jamie Pressley is the only thing funny in that show now.

The Office is sacrificing the Jim/Pam relationship for laughs. I am just curious how long they are going to drag us along for the ride. I think they have done well building that relationship, but in the event that they do get together, what then? I think everyone will lose interest. But they do need to keep the dialogue between Dwight and Jim going. Anything said by either of them while the other is in close proximity makes me laugh uncontrolably(?).

I agree, I finally caught the first few episodes of Earl from the first season and Randy seems much more intelligent than he is now. He's like a tired drunk guy now...dumb & dozing, not much humor.

As for the Jim/Pam relationship...it's more sad than anything. The parts about their relationship haven't been exactly funny. They both get serious when confronted with it. I think they could keep the chemistry going between them and start patching their relationship up this season. Part of the problem with that too is that Roy is not a funny guy, so Jim can't do funny things to him. Plus the quiet guy is now interested in Pam and tried to ask her out :disgust:

On a side note, I thought it was pretty funny when Jim did the jello thing in the new office and the guy flipped out and left :D

The Office has been great so far this year. The whole hug/kiss in the conference and the black light at the end of last nights episode both had me laughing.

lol, the new season of the office is only in its 2nd episode......i say, give it time. there were episodes in seasons 1 & 2 that weren't home runs either. the season 3 premiere of the office was quite possibly the funniest of the whole series, so far, imo. hard to follow that up.

The thing I don't get about the Office is that, almost every joke on that show is really not that funny and/or original at all. Save for a couple uncomfortable genuinely hilarious moments throughout both seasons, most people I know think the jokes are funny just because "I like xx character, hes funny". It's almost like the show is "funny because it's funny" just like Paris Hilton is famous because she's famous. I'm sure I'll get lots of flak for saying that though because everyone seems to like the Office.

yeah, Earl hasn't been very good.

It's inevitable that the Office brings Jim back to Scranton, but I could see them waiting until November sweeps to do it. ugh...

Last night's episode of The Office wasn't great, but the season premiere was hilarious :p I still enjoy watching it, I just hope they get Jim back in Scranton soon.

The Office is all over the place but when it's funny it can be really funny. I don't like the improvisational comedy or the incessant winking at the camera. The thing that keeps me watching is just how well they parody what it's like to work in corporate America these days. And to a certain extent you do get "invested" in the story line the more you watch.

I liked the office. I'm wondering when Jim is going to transfer back to Scranton.

Pam is hot.

I'm giving it two more episodes.

But, it's hard to know. Since they brought Ed Helms in and the guy from Whose Line to work at the Stamford branch, they're obviously wanting to use that one a bit more. He might stay there for quite a while, to give them an excuse to feature those guys.
