Am i the only one who doesn't worry about case temps...

I've never put the side on my CM stacker b/c i tinker so much and b/c it just seems like its easier than worry about having 30 fans keeping the air flowing.

Anyone else do that too? Am i overlooking some big downside to doing this other than a little extra noise?
 
Every case at my house has the side panels off. I don't know if it's just easier to do it this way now though, as I don't think we'll be doing this after we move.
 
So is it mostly for aesthetics that most people put them on then? I keep my pc under my desk (if the stacker wasn't so big i'd put it on display on top) so keeping the side on just seems like a needless step. But it seems i rarely hear of anyone leaving them off - and thus get preoccupied with keeping massive airflow in to the case.
 
I prefer to have the side panels on for sound reasons. It's much harder to hear the internals when the side panel is on.
 
My case side cover doesn't do much to cut down on noise - its one of the pitfalls of the original stacker i think.

Then again, once i get my new 640GB WD drive in, i think i'll take out my 36gig raptor since i think thats the noisiest part of my system.
 
I like the case panel on to keep the airflow going the way I want it. It also keeps dust out of the machine, looks better and temps are super low to begin with.
 
Obviously you guys with open cases must either not have cats, small kids, or must be using entirely passive cooling.

My cat 'snoball' decided to stick her nose inside my open case one night and 'investigate' the CPU cooler fan. All I heard was a 'FWAP' and a saw a white blur vanish from my office and stay under my bed for a day.

Open cases collect all kinds of garbage, dirt, dust, etc. I can't believe a 120mm low RPM fan can't keep your boxes cool.
 
Haha, yea, i live in a condo (no pets) upstairs with hardwood floors throughout - so things get dusted pretty often. I keep a HEPA filter running 24x7 that i use as a regular fan and it happens to blow on the side of my case.
 
i also prefer to keep my case closed, quieter, better looking, less dusty pretty much same temps if u have good airflow.
