Am I the only one who doesn't like wine?

My fiancee absolutely loves it. I've given legitimate attempts to like it. I don't like them.

If I want something refreshing and/or goes with food, I drink beer.
If I want to enjoy something stiff and complex, I drink scotch.

I don't need anything else. Wine is way too filling and sweet. Even the dry ones are quite sweet to me. I just don't get wine at all.

i almost exclusively drink cabernet sauvignon now. i blame game of thrones lol

wine is more relaxing to me. you dont have to worry about the temp, its sometimes more expensive so its savoured more.

eventually you can find one u like, wine is more varied then beer.

but there are many circumstamces beer trumps it. hot bbq outside, who drinks wine then? out at a club, wine??

Not a fan either. I keep trying it and I keep going to get a beer after. I can do champagne/sparkling wine but that's it, and I'd still rather have a beer.

I'm indifferent. If someone puts a glass in front of me, I'll enjoy it well enough, but I'd rather have whisky or beer. I could go the rest of my life without wine, and not miss it.

What have you tried?

Not a big beer fan - unless it's been properly distilled and aged for extended periods of time in charred oak barrels. :D

Whiskey and Wine

Wine is pretty much the only alcohol I drink. Certainly tastes better than any other alcohol I've tried.

If wine is "sweet", then you're drinking the wrong kind of wine. Make sure the label doesn't say "Grape juice".

i can't stand chardonnay wine, even good Chardonnay.

i don't mind a good sweet Riesling or table wine

my absolute favorite, a nice dark Cabernet! Sort of reminds me of the same taste buds that like a nice dark coffee.

Certainly not for everyone though.

I don't care for white wine, myself. I always drink red. A nice bottle of Cab. Sauv., merlot, or Malbec is very enjoyable to drink with a good meal.

Eh? What?

Dry wine is in no way sweet (at least it shouldn't be). It's a damn sight drier than any beer (and I say that as a bigger beer and spirit fan than wine fan).

What wines are you talking about?

Go try a decent cava, they are nice and dry. Fizzy too so you can impress the missus when you smash your light fixtures with the cork. :D

I thought maybe i just never had a good bottle, but I actually went on a wine tasting excursion to the Burgundy region in France, and I not only disliked, I wanted to spit out every single bottle I tried.

wonderful experience there though, just not my cup of tea

My dream is to hit up all the scotch distilleries... Cragganmore, Glenlivet, I hear they're all next to each other.

Chardonnay is ok as long as it's not been over oaked.

Proper chardonnay is dry and clean, the oaked crap is heavy and sort of vanilla flavoured.
