Am I the only one to notice this?

Am I the only one to notice that teenagers and kids in general (20 somethings) drive significantly worse in the presence of their peers but if alone with those older than them, drive better/alright?

Am I the only one to notice that you're a complete tool and no one listens to you?

Yes, I agree. Other people in the car are just a distraction.

This has been common knowledge for a long time...

IIRC, some states tried to pass laws limiting the passengers a new driver can have in the car.

I drive better when I'm driving friends, and drive more recklessly when I'm alone. I'm 17.

Err, it's not even a matter of having people in your car, but say outside like when they're exiting a school parking lot or infront of a movie theatre with their peers there etc.. While I do have friends who drive quite aggressively, I prefer to drive safely with them cause I wouldn't want to end someone elses life due to my stupidity.

umm, sometimes I get distracted with friends in the car, but sometimes it helps because they can make sure that I see something in the road.

People in general are pretty incorrigible, but in that age group in particular, it can get pretty bad...we all went through it, so I'm not pointing fingers or saying it's necessarily a bad thing.

However, that's the general idea behind why many states now either limit the number of passengers 16-18 year-olds can have in a car (generally 1), or prevent them entirely from having passengers.

It's a valid point. A lot of kids tend to drive more aggressively (if that's what goku means by worse) when with their friends (you know, the I'm-the-greatest-driver-there-ever-was-now-watch-me-pwn-that-SUV-mentality).

It's because when peers are in the car you get distracted a lot more easily. Teenagers are trying to do many things at once such as singing, changing the radio station, texting, and trying to talk with their friends. All add up to crappy driving.

Yawn, hey I thought you said when you got complemented you took it as a insult and it made you want to stop doing what you were complemented on?

Right because your ranting about me wasting bandwidth is a whole lot better, not to mention the plethora of other posts that are similar to yours.

You recall correctly, when you first get your license in TX, you're on a probation period.

No, you're not. And, in NY, teenagers can't have more than 1 teen passenger with them. Here's another obvious one for you: did you ever notice that people are worse drivers while they're using a cell phone?
