Hmm, this isn't confirmed yet but I believe that if you drink things with a straw, you're more likely to drink more overall/faster than otherwise. Ever notice this? I came back from burger king a few days ago with some extra straws.. Normally I have a glass of water at my desk and I take a few sips here and there, but since I thought I mind as well put this straw to use, I put it into my glass and BAM I end up sipping the whole glass in a matter of seconds... Weird... Maybe coincodence?

Maybe it's because you have water by you and not a tasty soda from Burger King. Maybe the straw has no impact on how fast we drink?

Drinking straight from the glass, you can get a lot more volume within a set period of time. Going with a straw for the same time results in less volume, unless you're really compensating for the less volume by sucking harder, heh...

Anyway, maybe we naturally drink longer from a straw to make up for the lack of volume and in the end, end up going for a time such that you end up having drank more?

Edit: Another thought - what if psychologically our thrist is cleared with a single large drink rather than the same amount in a larger time frame through a straw? I wonder if this has any valid point to it.

If there is ice in the cup, I will drink faster with a straw. No ice, and I will drink faster without a straw.

I think this makes sense. Sometimes, I have a glass of Pepsi sitting on my desk for a reasonable length of time. When I stick a straw in, I DO tend to drink a lot more each sip.

You notice strange things.

I think its because it doesn't feel like you're drinking as much, because the drink basically just goes down your throat and doesn't swish about it your mouth..

??? i thought this was common knowledge.

no crap you drink more with a straw. in fact, the more straws you add to the system, the faster you'll drink, too... up to a certain point where the suction is being compromised by the number of channels it has to go through.

Maybe it's because you don't know that it's "I might as well", not "I mind as well"...

You really are brain damaged, aren't you? It's also difficult to decide what's more worthless, your usual garbage or that quote...

Usual garbage wins.

Lmao, that reminded me of something a close friend of mine does. Two cartons of chocolate milk, two straws in each, all at once. He calls it "twin turbo chocolate milk"

Anyway, on topic, I heard this someone before, but I can't remember where....

I rarely use straws, since I drink mostly water. I only use straws when drinking soda or other sugary liquids...
