Am I the only one that thinks the controls for MGS4 suck?

I've had MGS4 (PS3) for a year now and have tried playing it maybe 4 times over the year for about 30 minutes at a time. The controls suck!

Back on the shelf it goes...

no, pretty much everything about MGS other than some epic cutscenes sucked. controls was definitely one of the sucky things.

I'm a Metal Gear fan but yes the controls are not the best. They are clunky. It's basically the same controls from PS1.

Which makes since knowing that it's the same controller since the PS1. Games have advanced. Shouldn't the controller? Sony needs to redesign that hunk of junk.

What exactly are you wanting to change? I guess maybe the Wii controller would work well since it apparently did for RE4, but obviously it wouldn't have been feasible for what Kojima was going for.

Also, I wouldn't even say it is the controller, as there's plenty of other games that have great controls using the same one.

Did you play MGS 1-3? If so, youre apparently missing a masterpiece that wraps up everything from the series in mind blowing detail.

Did you not play them? Dont worry, the game actually isnt that great, and the cutscenes which comprise 75% of the game will make you want to tear your eyes out if you dont know wtf is all this nonsense theyre talking about. The last boss fight will also seem like a joke youre just not in on.

MGS4 was an over-hyped and overall poor game, but the controls weren't the problem. Has anyone posting in this thread played MGS 1-3? I mean seriously, the controls in MGS4 are a huge improvement over the nightmarish controls of 1-3.

Too many cutscenes, the ridiculous plot and too many stupid "mini-games" are what was wrong with MGS4, not the controls. I actually wish MGS4 had more of the actual game instead of all of the stupid mini-games and cutscenes.

I like the Metal Gear Solid games but that group seems to be a minority on this forum. As mentioned, the controls were worlds above the previous games but still awkward and not as good as other third-person games (just like the previous MGS titles).

Also the stealth system just isn't that fun because it is punishingly difficult (and always has been). If there's another MGS (not Rising) I'd like to see a new approach to the stealth system.

The controls have sucked for MGS ever since MGS3. They try to do way too much with the controls, and in the end make it over complicated. It was one of the many reasons why I hated MGS3.

I still like MGS4, just because of the whole
revisiting shadow moses
part. That was pretty cool.
