I have a Athlon with an AMD 760 mobo (tried the MSI K7 Master and Gigabyte GA-7DXR). When running Win2k, everything runs rock solid, no problems at all. But if I install WinXP pro, the system runs rock solid for about 3 days, then, it starts rebooting randomly. At some point, just the booting process makes it reboot
The next day, it may work fine, but then, the day after that, it just reboots... When I look in the event viewer, it always tells me that it rebooted from a bugcheck a 0x000000c5.
Since WinXP has all the drivers I need included, it seems almost impossible that it can be a bad driver issue. And since Win2k is rock solid, I would be surprise if it was a ram/power supply/heat issue...
Anyway, here's my specs:
Athlon 1 GHz
MSI K7 Master/Gigabyte GA-7DXR
Asus V7700 deluxe GeForce 2 GTS
512 MB samsung/crucial PC2100 ram
Maxtor 40 Gig
Creative SB PCI128
Pionner 16x DVD
Win2k/WinXP pro
Of course, nothing is overclocked and every updates installed.
