If anyone who is less fortunate like me suffering from the bacteria that causes Pimples/Acne, pls offer your advice here, thnks.

Any shelf or professional brand cream that effectively kills and helps prevent pimples would help me alot.

Facial wash etc...

and lastly, all my previous pimple scars... anyone know how to deal with it? :(

Pls no plastic surgery or expensive extensive surgery/facial uplift.

THnks again! :)

Sounds like you've got it worse than I do, but I've had to deal with more than my fair share...I still get them regularly (I always have a few red spots on my face from squeezing). Tried lots of different stuff and nothing really worked. There was this treatment my doc put me on that required putting some weird smelling cream on my face for the night, and some other stuff on my face for the day. I didn't stick with it though, because I just got the stuff all over my pillow, and my face was always sticky or moist, I decided I'd rather just deal with zits than never be able to touch my face or sleep.

My only tip is to NEVER repeat NEVER touch your face with your hands.. also taking a shower twice a day helps too.. I have stopped getting pimples anywhere after I started doing this.. anytime I get a pimple on my face it ends up being where I touched it with my hands (i.e. often my chin)..

Acne's a skin condition; all my cousins have had it bad - see a doctor and find out if they can help. If it's just an outbreak, don't touch your face, wash it, and drink water instead of soda, cut back on sugar. Can help keep you from breaking out.

Wow is this true? I don't have bad acne, but I stopped drinking soda recently and my face is kinda cleaner or clearer or something like that.

I always wonder how movie stars, particularly teen stars, never seem to have any acne or pimples. While minor skin blemishes can be covered with makeup, "ordinary" pimples really can't. Perhaps they have some kind of secret formula or chemical that they use...?

If you can, get a Dermatologist to give you a prescription for Benzamycin, its Benzoyel Peroxide and some Antibiotic together. Worked great for me.

freebee, it's all about the lighting in movies/photos. They can cover up an incredible amount of skin blemishes by using soft/side lighting instead of straight on harsh lighting.

thnks but i need to clarify something here...

1. i seldom drink soda and i watch my diet ( i love water)

2. I learned the hard way about not touching your face with your germ-infested hands

3. i always get breakouts cos i donot have enough sleep. (i wish i would slap myself now but i just can't)

4. Dermatologists recommends changing your pillow case every 2 days (i'm too lazy)

5. i'm using expensive unbuffered facial wash and 10% pure glycolic acid to exfoliate my skin. (cannot buy from stores) The ones you buy from store are all buffered(pay high dollar for brand, not quality)

but i heard some celebrities facial secrets uses Oil Of Olay(i think i got the name wrong) and they are available everywhere and they claim it works good.

Hope this thread helps others other than poor me!

Believe me, you are not alone. I have had cystic acne since I was two years old. Its disfiguring, and embarrassing when it flares up. It is NOT from being dirty, as some uneducated people still seem to think, its from hormones in your body causing your skin cells to die too soon, and your skins tendency to overproduce oil, hence clogging your pores. If your acne is anything above moderate, you really need to see a dermatologist, and get a prescription. Even a regular doctor can help you out, I am taking minocycline right now, and its only 15.00 a month with no insurance coverage. And it really helps. I am 28 years old, and I will always have this problem. But its not hopeless anymore, and while it might never go away permanently, at least there are things to keep it under control. Good luck! :)

Well it started a little less severe then, and just progressed over the years. ;) But it was full blown by the time I was five, unfortunately.

If you want THE cure for acne, get accutane. Its sort of a bitch while your on it for the 5 months or so (you get dry skin and stuff, just moisturize) but you come out zit free for the rest of your life. IMO its worth it.

My family (both mother and father) has a serious history of bad acne. When I first started getting bad acne ( gr 7-8) I went to a doctor - I suggest you do the same. For most people tetracycline or minocycline works wonders, for me though, the only thing that worked was 'Accutane'. I'm sure you've seen a commercial for it on MTV - "People think I eat too many chocolate bars...".

My advice is to go to your family physician and ask for help. You'll probably be prescribed something like tetracycline first - if it is chronic and *nothing* seems to be working, ask for a referral to a dermatologist. The dermatologist will be able to prescribe you some better medicine - but you'll have to push to get on anything that really works (they don't like prescribing things like Accutane unless they absolutly have no other choice).

Other than that, I find Clearasil Pads and cream work well.

minocycline didn't work for me at all when I had it :/ even tried a refill, still didn't help (thought it'd take a while to kick in)

Benzoyl peroxide wash 10% usually works well for those with oily skin, as it takes out all the oil deep down and kills the acne growing bacteria. Need to use at least twice a day; more if you live in a humid environment. Able to purchase over the counter (oxy). Make sure not to let your facial hair grow out, as that can aggrevate bacterial growth.

Watch your diet carefully. This may take months of analyzing, but for me I notice any consumption of chocolate would make me erupt with acne a few days later. With chocolate gone from my diet, all is good.

i'd be careful using this depending on where you are. in california blue cross now requires you to have authorization to use accutane. they claim it causes birth defects and mental health problems.

Ive had my share of Acne as well. Ive tried several types of medicine but none seemed to work too well. Finally my docor prescribed me Accutane. Like everyone has said, it is hell while you are taking it but it does work wonders. For the 4 or 5 months you take it you will dry out very badly. In my opinion its worth it though. I took my Accutane about 2 years ago and am beginning to have a few outbreaks again here and there but for a long time it kept me clear as could be. My adivce is see if you can get a doctor to give you some Accutane. Other than that, Ive found Neutrogena Oil Free Acne Facewash seems to work pretty well. Keep your hands off your face, this sometimes is my problem. Also, not sure if its fact or fiction but caffine can break out your face so Id stay away from cokes. Good luck.

It looks like the requirements for getting Accutane in the US is a lot more lax than in Canada. In case you're wondering, it will give birth defects to a child if you're a woman and are pregnant while on Accutane. Other side affects include depression and sore joints. On top of that you're not supposed to be in the sun for extended periods of time, and your skin will get really dry (to the point where you'll need to carry vaseline along with you to make sure your lips don't turn into the Grand Canyon).

Edit: And if you've got *really* bad acne like I did (and my brother and my sister), one treatment with Accutane will not do the trick. Three did it for my brother, two for my sister and I.
