QFT also email as a whole is incredibly looked through as it travels the internet!6th sense? Dood...it's been well documented here that you have NO sense...
For all those bitching about the reading of PM's by the admins...do you use email at your place of employment? Those aren't "private" in the strictest sense either. Like PM's here, they may be "private" in that they shouldn't be accessible by your co-workers or other forum members, they are easily accessible by your employer...or in this case, by the forum administrators.
Don't like that? Find a different means of communication.
ok, i'm deciding to post in this thread...
first off, this whole thing kinda makes me sad. i don't like seeing my friends get attacked and i consider perk, ga, and mosh friends. yes, ga and i had our run-ins in the past, but i believe he and i have a mutual respect for each other, yet a difference in opinion... he's still a good guy, i believe, even though he can be provocative at times.
i feel bad for both perk and mosh. based on the information i have gathered so far, i think mistakes were made and things were blown out of proportion. i think perk might have made a mistake in his reaction (look, we've ALL been there... we've all been guilty of making a panicked decision to spare embarrassment of secrets escaping). i feel bad for mosh because i don't think she really did anything wrong other than voice her opinion in private to gaiden. i think the absolute worst that she should have gotten was maybe a week vacation or something.
either way, everyone needs to realize that this is a community that is made of people and personalities and we've all created bonds over the years. people make mistakes, but it's no reason for us to be assholes and call each other names or ridicule people for difficult situations or problems they may have in their personal lives.
as for poking into people's private messages, i think that's absurd. it happened and it never should have. there's a reason why they're called private messages and there's a sense of security people feel when posting to one another by way of that avenue. to think that various pieces of information about one's self or certain pictures or whatever could be read by mods/admins without your permission is very disturbing and disheartening.
i think decisions were made in haste without much thought of what was right or wrong and how things would go over when the community caught wind of it. i know first hand of a couple times where i was banned for something that was completely unfair and i'm convinced it had everything to do with personal feelings towards me. could this be another example of that happening? i don't know. but i do think that this entire thing is lame and it'd be great if this thread solves issues and, hopefully, there's a fair, adult, re-evaluation of the events that happened with a different outcome than this current one rather.
i also think it's unfair that those accused aren't given the right to defend themselves. we have all been in situations where we're accused of something and there's evidence to support the accusation, but it really wasn't how things transpired. misunderstandings and misinterpretations happen.
6th sense? Dood...it's been well documented here that you have NO sense...
have you been snooping around in the mod forums and reading my dosier??? :hmm:
:awe:
To those that would an dxplanation of the PM issue, I will waste my cell phone power to explain what was said be Ben, without hostility.
PMs are not readily viewable by Moderators.
For a PM to be viewed, one has to log onto the account.
That requires a password.
IF a serious situation develops, a Senior Admin can change an account password to access the account and review PMs. This is only when the Forums are felt to be jepordized, most usually with respect to a problem , to determine fault or track a fraud/thief in FS/T.
Logs allow Moderators to determine who is viewing what forum at a given time.
When informed of the breach, the logs determined who accessed the breach.
From there, the accounts were checked to see what may have been disciminated. Why that decision was made was based on additional info reported to the Moderators.
I hope that clears up the use/acess of PMs and logs

Apparently, I saw some of the disseminated information before the bans were even handed out.
IMHO, they do not rise to the level of "jeopardizing" the forum. I can certainly see how they would be embarrassing to one of the moderation staff, but the punishment does not fit the crime.
Damn, I read that three times. What the hell did you say?so, based on the logs, you can see who's been in what forum section... i'm assuming there's a timestamp for when they were viewing the section, too, right?
if that's the case, of those who were banned, were all of them in that section? and, if so, how did you determine what the punishment was? some people could have stumbled in there accidentally or out of curiosity. and seeing how you feel that it's ok to investigate peoples' private messages given the circumstances, could you establish a clear, undeniable, malicious intent to disseminate privileged information? what if someone was shown the information, felt that the information shown displayed something they felt was unfair, and made a suggestion to rectify what they thought was a lie?
here's an example... bear with me: a private investigator shows up with pictures of documents that say something about someone you know that you think is untrue, and the document was written by a cop. then you tell the p.i. that you don't believe everything on that document to be true about the person you know and that they should be notified about the accusations against them. do you think it'd be fair for the cops to come knocking on your door and throw you in jail? if so, then there's probably no way i can convince you otherwise... personally, i don't think that's fair. what if you were the one being unfairly accused?
now, i don't know all the details and i could be the one who is misunderstanding the situation entirely, but i think it'd be fair to try and put yourself in the other person's shoes and try to think what you think they did and why and whether you or your friends might have done the same thing given similar circumstances.
Damn, I read that three times. What the hell did you say?
While I agree it does not fit the crime, it's just my opinion... and yours They could have banned out of principle[meaning actual content disseminated is irrelevant] and I can understand that as well, it's their prerogative.
Ignore him. He's got ocean madness.
Damn, I read that three times. What the hell did you say?
Do not pretend that you know the goings on here with the mods and this issue because you don't.
This was not done in haste without thought of what right or wrong. Do you really think we do this sort of thing willy-nilly?
This decision had the support of the admins. It was discussed at length for a period of days before I gave the announcement and banned the three.
There are differences of opinion here and that's fine I understand. What you need to understand is what happened was considered serious and we took action on it. It's really that simple. We didn't keep it under wraps, we're letting this thread stay open to state your opinions.
Do not make this sound like we don't know what we are doing here. That's insulting

If the cops came a knocking, does the documents knowing what the pi believe is everything to be true when it's not arrest the pi when the documents accuse the cops of writing it and you know it's untrue?
