My laptop uses the intel 430mx chipset which supports 66mhz bus and desktop processors. currently I'm running a 200mmx and I'm thinking of upgrading it to 300mmx but here is tech supports reply to my upgrade. I'm like 100% sure there exists pentium 266 and 300mmx using the same socket and pin configuration. thx for any help it's been awhile so my memory about these cpu's maybe off.

Dear customer:
- your laptop model can only support the CPU processor up to
233MMX, and Intel do not come out with 266 or 300 on that
processor, so only go to 233MMX is max, and the memory is using
72 pin EDO type 3.3 volt, and up tp 80MB only, it will take either 2
8MB RAM, 2 16MB RAM or 2 32MB OF RAM and plus you have
16MB build in on the mother board.
thanks.

Laptop's in general cant be upgraded so easily.

I know there were 266 and 300 Mhz chips but they were desktops Pentium2.
THe Pentium 300mmx and 266mmx for laptops do exist.. but the pin config is different. The tech is right.
