anyways, i've got this problem. i'm a computer science major here at ucla. people especially in engineering seem to be intimidated and/or scared by the way i look on first impression. i mean i'm a really nice guy people tell me after they get to know me. i'm told that on first impression i look like "a thug who'd mug me in an alley." anyways i have no idea why that is, i dont think i'm scary. i'm about 5'11 and a little under 170. i'm not some huge bouncer or anything. i guess i'm wearing somewhat nicer clothes in that picture, since sometimes i just wear baggy jeans , basketball shoes, and maybe a sweatshirt or something. but yeah... i dunno i guess it kinda sucks since people and more importantly girls dont find me as approachable or are scared when i talk to them at first or so i'm told .


so what do you guys think would make me less scary? i guess its better than being cute and cuddly i'm told , but yeah i figure it'd be better if i wasnt associated with 2pac as much


 
IMHO, I say grow the hair out a bit more so it's not shaved like it currently is. Other than that that's all! smile lots too!

yeah i've gotten the hair thing before i am thinking of growing it out instead of shaving it down to an 1/8 of an inch . damn its so convenient and lazy too that way, you look neat with no effort. oh well, some girls like the thug thats not a thug inside apparently so i guess it kinda works.
 
To the PRlCK that said that this guy looks like a chinese food store worker - stfu! I mean, if this guy worked at a chinese food place I'd run the hell away! Seriously though, I'm asian myself so that sorta ignorance is retarded and offensive.. to the original poster- try smiling a lot more or go with the look.. Also, lighter colors would help too.. I have the same problem but I just go with it.. who really cares?? But if it bothers you, try to change your clothing and posture.. Smiling a lot helps too but sometimes it could be creepy

Then again, maybe it's because I'm Asian, and I'm used everyone.

All I can say is I guess you should try to smile and joke around a lot. Break the thug image.
 
No, you don't look scary, Hans007. However, something could scare some people in a different sense: Your posture. Looooooord! Please help improve your posture. It's terrible. And it doesn't help that you have a short neck. (Or is it a deformity? 😱) Other than that, you actually have a cute face.

How tall are you? Oops! I just reread. You're 5' 11". Not bad. Maybe they think that you're too tall for an Asian guy? Do you have a scary voice? I can't guess their minds. LOL! 😀

I used to have that problem. I thought that girls would just eventually approach me if they liked me.
