Just got my AV7133 up and runnin. It has a T-Bird 1.2@1.466(11x133). CPU temp in BIOS is showing 51.5C/124.5F. Is this to hot?

probably but depends on if that's at idle or under full load!
what heatsink are you using & what's the ambient air temperature?

Uh, is that idle? If its 51C idle (I assume this because you mentioned BIOS), I can only imagine that it gets much warmer under load, and then Id say yes, you should definately look into a stronger cooler (or just run at the default since 1.2G is certainly plenty fast). 51C isnt TOO bad for "under load", although youll probably want to get a better HSF just to be safe.

I have an Alpha 6035 with a YS Tech 60mm 27cfm Fan. That is at idle. I just fired it up for the first time. Room temp is about 72F with case open.

Not hot at all buddy. First of all Asus motherboards have a higher temp reading then most other boards, atleast the A7V did, not sure about A7V133.

None the less, I operate my 1.1 Ghz Tbird at 49-51C idle depending on the weather and 54C max under full load.(but I have implemented a really quiet system, low rpm fans)

Considering that you're running at almost 1.5 Ghz and disapating close to 80-90watts of heat I would say that 51C is definately alright.

If your temps go above 58-60C or you have lockups or alot of system errors, then you may have a problem. But 51C is not hot.

check your heatsink, if it feels warm/hot then it's doing it's job. if it is just room temp you may have a problem with contact between the cpu- HSF

At 1.85v you might be disapating close to 100watts. That's how much heat an average human disapates too! :Q (just a little trivia for you all)

I was a little sissy boy, and decided I was gonna buy this cpu/mobo o/c combo from Outside Loop, instaed of doin this one myself. I wanted to make sure I got a 1.2 that would do 1.4+. Also, I don't have any experience with socket HS/F installs(I've only done 6 systems from scratch and all were Slot1&A).

Dave at Outside Loop told me that he ran Prime95 for 48 straight hours at 1466MHz without a single crash before they shipped it, so I'm assuming it'll be ok.

It came at 1.85, so I'm assumin it needs that to do 1466, but I can try to back it down a hair.

your fine, if you search the forums you will notice that this is a very common question, you rarely see an AMD burn up form heat, the problems usually come in when your heatsink becomes detached or your peltier fries.

Hi, I have an MSI K7t pro2 with 2.0 BIOS and T-bird 900 and PEP66 with 10mm fan running at 2550RPM. I am getting about 41C idle and 43C under load using MSI's FuzzyLogic III app. I'm just wondering if this is a little to hot for me because I've heard all over that MSIs read temps much lower than actual.

SD,

Your temps are very good for an A7V class MB. They typically read in the mid-high 50C range.

Painkiller,

For an MSI, you're in hte "warm" range, but that's probalby more so due to the weak fan you have on there(no offense intended, just that 2500 rpm can't be pushing much air). You're still in hte safe "margin" of operating temps.

<< MSI/Iwill DDR boards are among the "cooler" reading boards. >>

so does that mean that msi/iwill boards are ACTUALLY cooler? or just that they READ cooler? if so, then most boards should actually run at similar temps if measured correctly. please correct me if i'm wrong.

thx

BassDominator,

None of them are accurate. Certian procedures can be made to increase their accuracy, but they are generally very poor as far as accuracy.

Quad,

They read cooler. Given the same exact setup/grease/cpu, the one particular CPU would run at the exact same temp regardless of board. Transplate a cpu from an MSI board to an Asus board, and you'll get hte "perception" that you're running hotter, when in actuality, you're not.

SD,

Still fine.

MikeWarrior:

What would you say is a good operating envelope, temperature-wise, for a 1.2GHz Tbird? Mine runs at 49C under load (according to Asus Probe on my A7V133) at 1.33ghz, but I have the feeling I might could push this chip to 1.5ghz the way it has responded.

I'm just afraid of pushing a little too far... thoughts?

I've run the same cpu/HSF combo on both an A7V and a K7T Pro 2-A and I only noticed about 2 degrees difference in the temperature readings.

I just got my Tbird 1200/100 AXIA today with A7V133 using this crap coolermaster fan,

53'c CPU temp when room is 23'c at 1333/133 1.75v
