I just sold my computer to someone at work, a coworker of mine is screaming that I've ripped the other guy off. I originally planned on selling only the components I was upgrading but the buyer talked me into selling everything... I took $850 US dollars for it
here's a list of what I sold with new prices in parenthesis, I may have forgotten some things:

1.2Ghz Athlon with Coolermaster fan $60($100+$15)
ASUS A7V133 $60($115)
512MB PC133 Micron $35($64)
Creative Labs SB Live! $15($35)
56K Modem $10(Brand New)
Black "Alienware" Hydraulic Case w/300WattPS 2xBB Fans & Floppy $60($100+$15+$10)
Geforce2 GTS $70($105)
Maxtor 30GB 7200rpm $65($100)
Logitech Optical Mouseman Mouse $15($50)
Black Keyboard $5($20)
Sony 52x Brand New $35
Intel Pro/100 Mgmnt Network Adapter $15($80, no kidding)
Samsung 950P $180($299-$40mail in)
Plextor 12x10x32xA $100($135-OEM, $150 retail)
Windows XP Upgrade Retail $100
Windows 98SE Full version $25 ($80)

*I had no intention of selling the monitor or the burner but the buyer wanted everything or nothing. I wanted $500 without them... it costs me $450 with shipping to replace just those 2 items. I think that the guy who thinks I'm ripping off the buyer is entitled to his opinion, and if the buyer asked him what his opinion is I would respect him saying he thought it was too much. It pisses me off though that he's saying he's going to confront the person and tell them "you got ripped off!". What do you think? What is used hardware in good working order worth? Whatever someone's willing to pay right?

Your coworker is a know-nothing jackass.

What'd he expect you to give it away?

$850 is a very fair price; enough for all the parts plus a little for your hard work building it.

EDIT: Play his game then. Ask your coworker to prove he can build the exact same system for less somewhere else. My thoughts are that he won't be able to.
