The first thing I notice about someone is their race.

Does this make me a racist?

That makes you observant. Anyone who says they're "colorblind" is a liar, or a dipshit.

If you noted it was a "someone" and not a "something," it wasn't the first thing you noticed about them.

After you notice their race, do you immediately judge them based on it? If so, then yes.

That's just not even racist, that's prejudiced. If you notice their race, immediately judge them on it, and refuse to change your opinion when presented information contrary to your jdugement, that's racist.

you postulate that you can determine a person's race by visual cues alone?
or do take a DNA sample on the sly and have a home DNA laboratory?

It is the most noticeable thing about them so I would say no. If I walk up to someone and notice whether or not they are male or female does that make me sexist?

Now if you apply that to preconceived notions that you have about their race then I would say yes. And to be honest I think that everyone does this to a degree. I think that how they are dressed plays a MUCH bigger role than people realize, and for most people this would trump their race. I think that people lump individuals into categories much less based on their race than they do based on their attire. I guess that you could call this culturist for lack of a better word, and the way they speak will certainly reinforce this.

No but once I hear them talk, I can pretty much tell your their whole personality after two sentences.

Maybe that makes me a bad person or maybe I talk to ~800 people a month and am a really good judge of character. I still don't know but I think that it's a different thread....

If you consciously make a note of a persons color I'd probably wonder. Yeah I do see color obviously, but I never find myself thinking about it.

Exactly. I think this country has moved passed judging someone simply because of the color of their skin (by and large, and there are still PLENTY of people out there that still will but the as a % of the total population I would think their numbers are few and dwindling). People will and do judge someone by what they perceive as their cultural background however, and I think this is something that everyone does to some extent. I think your initial opinion of them is made up before you actually get to know them by this, and your opinion of their cultural background and thus what stereotype you think they should fall into is based a lot on their clothing and how they talk.

It is if you're white.

How do you figure that? Your eyes are there for a reason. Same a noticing someones voice. NO it is not racist. You are just getting information. There is other stuff you will notice when you see a person. like their body shape and their height etc...

If you have to ask than yes. But as that has already been said than especially yes.

Depending I will normally notice body shape first.
That is are they fat, skinny, tall, short, have the right curves, etc.

Those visual cues are processed much faster by the brain and can be done even from the corner of the eye unlike the tone of ones skin.

I'd say the number of people that judge based on skin color is large and growing.
