Okay. Well, i was eating at olive garden last week and after the meal (it was really good, that tuscan chicken pasta is divine) i left my wallet on the seat accidently. Well i don't notice until the next morning so i called them and they said they found it. They were even nice enough to come and let me pick it up at 9 o'clock in the mornin. Well i picked it up then without checking it i left. At luch i finally opened up my wallet to find my 20 bucks gone. Nothing else had been touched but my fvcking money was gone. Well i was pissed so i wrote a complaint to Olive Garden but due to server congestion i haven't been able to send it. i've calmed down now and i'm wondering if i'm overreacting by send in in the complaint?

cliffs:
lost wallet at olive garden

Maybe the $20 was already missing by the time it was found by the staff.

If you expected to find the cash in it... yes. You are overreacting. You should be happy you got it back at all.

I'm all for wanting to believe in the concept that people are basically good... but this is the real world we live in. Be thankful that you don't have to cancel all your credit cards.

Well you don't know for sure that it was an emplyee of Olive Garden that took your cash. It's likely I suppose but anyone could have picked it up, took the 20, and tossed it back on the table. The people who read the complaint will probably take this into account as well so it might not make a difference whether you send it or not.

That's true. It may have been found by a customer, who took the money out before they passed the wallet to an employee.

Don't make accusations without more proof than this.

I'd say before you send a complaint to Olive Garden, just go talk to the person who found your wallet. At least they turned it in and didn't just take it and claim they never saw it.

I'd be upset if I lost $20 as well, but I would be more upset if I didn't get my wallet back at all.

Yes, you're overreacting a lot. You're lucky to have gotten anything back. Still, I wouldn't trust anyone. Half of CC theft/Identity theft comes from teenage waitstaff at places like Olive Garden who copy CC info then use it. Cancel every single card in your wallet ASAP!

OP, you should get your credit card numbers changed. If someone was willing to take your cash, what's to stop them from writing down your CC numbers? If you get the cards back, you're less likely to close the account before they make some charges on your account.

Put it this way, 20 dollars is a great price to pay for not having to fvck with cancelling CC's, getting a new license, etc whatever else you keep in there.

I'd keep an eye on the CC balances just in case though.

Since you have no idea who actually took the $20, just chalk it up as a small price to pay for NOT having to replace all your credit cards, driver's license, membership cards, etc.

You won't get your $20 back. Even if an employee took it, do you really expect them to now hand it back? Because if their supervisor found out that they took it out, they could lose their job. Be fortunate it was only $20, and be even more fortunate that you got it back.

It still sucks though...

Be glad you got everything back other than $20, that's a small price to pay for having the rest of your wallet and what it has inside.

I left my wallet with about $100 cash in it at a restaurant out of town, and had to drive back to pick it up. Had all the money in it!

A couple weeks later, I left my wallet at a local restaurant with roughly $100 in it as well. Came back to pick it up the next day, and it was still there!

Consider the $20 a forgetfullness tax. Move on. It is minor compared to the costs in time and replacement fees associated with replacing the items in your wallet, the wallet, and dealing with any identity theft resulting from it.

i'm always afraid of losing mine like that. Now, i involuntarily feel my back pocket to make sure it is still there.

If it were me, I just think, oh well, lost $20, but at least I got my wallet back, which is invaluable to me. Ok, so you lost $20, don't let it stir you up forever. ;)

Sh!t happens.

Be happy you got your wallet back at all. I think you're over reacting. Don't bother sending in the complaint, it's your own damned fault it was left there in the first place.

$20? It would be nothing to me. I'd be glad as all hell that I got all my cards back. I mean, it was my fault after all.

You are definitely over-reacting... why do you assume it's their staff who took the cash? Maybe the guy at the next table saw your wallet, picked it up, took the cash, and turned in the wallet to Olive Garden staff?
