Hi all,

I need advice overclocking a Geforce2 MX. I am using the 6.50 drivers and the coolbits hack. I'm using the 3d Mark demo to test for instabilities.

First, I overclocked my memory to as fast as possible. I got it to 195 (core default). At 196, I start to video is not as smooth. Then, I overlocked the core as fast as possible. I currently have it at 205.

Am I doing this correctly? If I pushed my card too far, would I see problem in running the 3d mark demo? What should I look for? Is there better software to test the stability?

Thanks in advance :) .

If you overclock the core or the memory too high you will start seeing video artifacts and/or your system will crash.

The best test of overclocking is to just play the games you normally play. If you want to do a hardcore test, just run something like 3dmark 2000 in demo mode/loop all night long. If it has not crashed by time you wake up, it should be good.

You can do permanent damage to your card's memory if you overclock it too high. Also some of the drivers have the problem of over-overclocking the card when you wake your system from sleep.

Thanks for the help.

What's the usual overclock for a GeForce2 MX? I have an Asus V7100 with just the heatsink.
