Hi,

I have another question regarding Final Fantasy XI. As of right now, I am killing rabbits, bats and worms. The beatles and orcs are way to strong for me to kill. The beginning movie shows this land having a war taken out of the lorg of the rings movies and a boy and girl try to escape but only the boy does..... 20 years later the boy is shown w/ a bunch of other guys coming back to the city....... I figured it was a movie about getting even or something... not killing rabbits, green troll looking monsters and beatles......... is this all that there is w/ this game??? I thought this was going to be like the final fantasy games for playstation where they is a point and an ending (like over taking a king or something) Trying to get money is a pain, After 24 hours I have 500 Gil, same sword, all weapons are wwwaaayyyy to expensive and at this rate would take me over 20 months just to get a damn sheild let alone armer or anything...... I sometimes see a bunch of people try and fight a monster all at once but when I try to get into the act it doesn't let me.... i'm told me meet friends but can't figure out how that happends or anything.......... I'm i missing the point of this game????

I right now am at level 6. I have the same sword, no armer, no sheild, only about 500 gill I did have more but I went to a place where you buy weapons and I bought some type of staff that they won' t let me use. What kind of weapons can a Warrior Hume use?????? I did go to the east map and all the way down I found some nun praying in a small castle (it looked like) I then went back north and i went to ask a guy where i can get money fast and he said go to a temple and have them cast some kind of stone so I find crystals..... does that make any sence??? Also when i start the game it says I have not yet signed up for world emegration..... where do i do that?????

you need to get to level 10 then try getting into groups.. I don't know about the nun but focus on swords for now. World emigration is if you want to change to a new server they are putting up they will do it for free. That way when they add a new server it wont be totally empty.

One word: auctions. Without auctions, the game is super slow, super tough, and super boring. Go kill crawlers and get silk thread; sells for 800 gill at auction. Or get signet cast on you and collect fire crystals (12 sell for 2,000 gil). Then you can buy good weapons and stuff.

I've had the game for a little more than a week (current playtime: 2 days) and I'm a level 14 Thief with 8,000 gil on hand and all the best equipment. Plus I've got a small garden growing in my residence. When I'm not killing stuff, I try to up my Cooking skill making grilled hare.

HI guys,

Thanks for the responses. Each day I seem to be more and more into the game. I bought the stratagy guide to help me out a bit. I have a few more questions. Why is there the ability for cooking and a garden??? Also, I started out a warrior, is that not as good as the other jobs???

Warrior is the standard bread and butter of role playing. Very easy to do and straightforward. At level 30 you will be able to specialize and be a dragoon/samurai/ninja/dark night whatever. At level 18 you can get a sub class like monk and gain some of the monk abilities.. there are several options available to you so you are not stuck at just warrior. And cooking and gardening this aspect I'm sure is something people enjoy and just adds something to the world.

Thanks everyone for your comments. I went to the north east forest and I have just been killing alot of beetles, mushroom looking things and those moose looking fisherman to gain a bunch of experience. I am on like level 8 so far. I do have a quesiton about fishing, I went and helped some kid find his dad and his dad gave me his fishing pole... well i finally found bait and went fishing in the port to help one of the brothers catch a bunch of moat carp... well the rod broke!!! So i went and saved enough money to get a bamboo pole and now I can't figure this fishing think out.... i start fishing, something bites the worm and then when I hit action it says I lost the fish and my charactor puts my fishing pole away..... is there some kind of key I should be hitting when the fish bites down???? Also.. this fighting think... can all i do is tell my character to fight something and wait it out? I mean Can' t I hit some type of button to keep hitting the creature?

Thanks very much for your help!!!

theres nothing special you need to do for fishing. whether you pull something up depends on your fishing skill (and some say how quickly you respond as soon as something tugs your line).

for fighting, your attacks are automatic (i'm not sure why you'd want it otherwise).
if you're bored with the waiting--you should be playing with your job abilities & weapon skills.
i'm not sure what job you are--but i'd assume WAR?
you have provoke and probably fast blade by now. just play with those.
you'll be with grouping levels soon and your role will get a little more interesting.
hang tight.

you should do some of the quests and get equipment for lower levels. Having gil isnt really gonna matter much til you level up anyways since you won't be able to equip the more expensive items til you are a certain level.
