Am I missing something here?!!

I was watching TV last night and I here the government talking about how many people have gotten jobs after they were layed off from the gov. They stated that only 10 have new jobs and that the others may be afraid of getting a job because they may loose their severence pay.

I thought that this form of pay was to help you until you found a job, not a bonus.

Yeah. And people are lazy. Why find a job and work for your money when you can sit at home and have the government give you money?

What are the requirements to get severance pay? And how much money do you get from it?

Dunno how it is there but if you're laid off here you get 55% of what you were making. Some people enjoy taking off after half a year when they qualify for it and then after bumming around on 55% when it runs out they go back to work for another 6 months until they re-qualify. Then there are people like me that hate being on it and I'm doing all I can to get off it.
