Am I missing something here? (itunes related)

Ok, so I recently got an iPad. I load up iTunes in my system (win 7 64 bit) so that I can start playing w/ my iPad.

It installs fine, recognizes my iPad, etc.

Now, I'm trying to load media into my itunes library, but it doesn't seem to be doing anything. I go to File -> Add File/Folder -> and make my selection. After clicking ok, it doesn't do anything. It just keeps showing me "TV Episodes you d/l from from itunes appear in your TV shows in your library. To play..."

What am I doing wrong here?

Edit: Seems like it will only upload certain file types (MP4, etc)...is that correct?

If you click on the iPad itself, once you have VLC installed, there's a section for syncing files.. can't remember exactly which tab it is.. but it's in there.

Wow, I'm not the only one learning iTunes and the iPad--that I got for the wife. I did learn to pop in the music CD into the W7PC and get iTunes to rip it. I then connected the iPad and hit Sync and it placed the music onto the iPad.

Took me a little while to figure out that the music was located under the iPod icon on the iPad. I thought it was strange to have an iPod icon on the iPad, but concluded it was to sync between two mobile devices.

Now, as for loading already ripped content that is my ignorance and will learn along side you. 🙂

While the Apple products are suppose to be Stupid Proof, I think it really means you must be Stupid to use them as anyone not stupid will have trouble.

VLC made the iPhone/iPad infinitely more useful. As you found out, Apple products don't have a very wide range of formats it supports. Thank god it's free.
