Am I just wasting my time?

Okay, so I accepted this job as a part time network administrator, but heres the thing.

I'm a foreign student on an F-2 visa, so therefor the company is not allowed to pay me (they didnt complain much about that). The hours are great, I get free food as well. My question is, since im not being payed, am I just wasting my time? how much attention would a furture employer pay to the fact that I took the job because it's something I love doing?

The only thing I can think about is how future employers will pay you less because they realize you will work for free.

The experience of doing things is worth more than you doing something for free because you like to. Be sure you'll get good experience and good references.

Become a PORN STAR. Your will have many "assets", and with some "hard" work you will make ton of cash and have a great "f*cking" time! =)

Well if you feel that you're learning a lot there and it will be a great refrence then it wouldn't be a bad idea. But aren't there any places where you can get paid?

Well, look at it this way.

i'm trying to see your point of view......

i say take it, if you can support yourself, and you're doing what you love, then live long and prosper!

I would say stay at the job. Foreign students usually need a bit more then the average to get a full time job here and every little bit helps.

Well, i could baby-sit and mow lawns...

But other than that, our good friends the INS would bust an employers ass if they found that a student on my visa was being given a paycheck without the income tax being dealt with
