<sigh>

Today I got a new computer at work (wohoo!). Everything is fine and dandy until I tried to get onto the shared drive on the server...

here are the things I've done:

1. Set workgroup name to the name of workgroup at the office
2. Gave the PC an unique name
3. Restarted the PC
4. Tried to map the old drive by right clicking on my computer. Computer does not find the drive
5. Try to find the server via my network places. Nothing
6. Try to see my computer on the network from another computer. Nothing.

I've repeated the above steps about 5 times but I still see nothing. I've tried to network two PC's once before and ran into the same problem. They just can't see each other.... <sigh>

Can anyone help?

First thing is if they are on automatically assign IP or if they have one specifically given to each one. Next would be if you can ping other computers just not connect through network neighborhood...

They have auto assgined IP. THey all have internet and can ping each other. They just can't see each other in network neighborhood.

I think the tcp/ip portion is working right then, that deals with the outside world from each machine/device....

however file and print sharing need to be on and enabled as well as netbeui....I never have set it up though, not trying to give you the positive answer, but rather point you in some direction for your own figuring it out.
