Hey guys and gals. I just wanted to Rant! here. Maybe is not the right place to post this kind of topic but it is Video Card related.

So normally, I buy all; if not most of my electronic/PC stuff from Newegg.com. Recently I had some EBay bucks saved and it needs to be used by the end of this month.

At the same time I am downsizing my build to a mini itx build. So I got rid of my GTX 680 SC+ SLi setup and decided to purchase a new single card for my itx build.

I am a big fan of Asus so after a quick research, I decided to purchase the Asus GTX 980 Matrix. There is absolutely nothing wrong with the card, the card LOOKS F...ing! beautiful and performs really well for my setup.

What I did NOT realize is the day after I made my purchase from Newegg EBay Store. The price on Newegg.com was $20.00 cheaper AND you get a free game; Witcher 3. I felt really bummed out.

So I called Newegg.com Customer care representative and AS Always, the CS reps goes above and beyond to help with my issues/concerns. The Newegg.com CS rep had issued me a credit of $20.00 back to my account, but they CAN"T or not willing to give me a free Witcher 3 game code.

SO....I guess what I am trying to say here is. Because I purchased the VC from Newegg EBay Store; that I don't deserve the free game even though money I had spent; actually goes to Newegg and not to the mention the Video Card was sent directly from Newegg. What difference does it make if I had purchased the item from Newegg.com or Newegg EBay store? The money goes to NEWEGG regardless and the item is sent from Newegg....so why can't I have my free Witcher 3 game code?

Maybe I am just hard headed. Maybe...I should convince myself that one card is not enough and I should buy another GTX 980 Matrix from Newegg.com for SLi setup; again.

That way I get uber performance and I get the free game!!! (most likely will NOT buy another card)

Sigh! Thanks for reading my RANT!

Simple, really. Did the Newegg ebay listing advertise a free Witcher 3 game code or not?

If not, and Newegg refused to provide one when asked, then I guess that's where you're at, then.

There was no advertisement of a free game code, but I thought they must of left it out or something and I would simply just called for the free game code. Apparently that's not the case. :(

Yep, now I know.

The Witcher 3 game is an nvidia specific incentive. Newegg really doesn't have anything to do with it. You may be able to contact Nvidia, but I doubt that will go anywhere. The last thing you could do is return it and buy it again, but you may have to pay the restocking fee so that's not a good plan either.

Seems like you had bad luck :( At least they made the price difference right.

FWIW, it's typically better to buy from a retailer at their website rather than eBay. eBay charges fees which the retailer has to make up for. So I tend to see higher prices on eBay.

The rep gave you free money they had no obligation to give you? He should have sent someone over to take your 980 away from you for getting your feelings involved.

There is no sense in getting yourself worked up over something you have no control over.

I'd Take the $20 and add $5 to it and buy a Witcher 3 GOG code on Ebay and move on.

Seriously, you got more than you deserved. They gave you $20 off, when you already agreed and purchased it for $20 more. Prices are always falling on older stuff. New deals are always coming, but the price you agreed to is the price you get. You bought the card knowing there was no free game coming.

Yes, it sucks you purchased it a day too soon, but that is on you, not them.

Not sure how "legal" this is but I've done it multiple times.

Buy product from store 1.
Few days later Store 2 offers product with better deal.
First attempt to get store 1 to match deal, hit or miss.

If no dice, buy from store 2, return product to store 1 of course unopened.

Save your receipts, especially if you buy vidya games retail. You have no idea how many times I've done this, often snagging deals from say Target doing a BOGO or Best Buy trying to 1up Amazon.

This. Especially since you got a good card as this doesn't always happen obviously, no coil whine, etc
