Been having some weird problems with my computer lately. What happens sometimes I'll try to download something, say in firefox, I'll click on the link, tell it where to download to and it won't start, just stalls. I close the browser, use ccleaner, try to download agian and it works. Tried to download the updates for UBCD and it just stalls. Sometimes i can't load pages properly. Not sure what the deal is with this. Can an infection cause this type of behavior??

Use IE Privacy Keeper - it is safer than CC Cleaner. And I hope that you are not cleaning your registry every time you use it.

And use Spy Sweeper - you can find it for free AR in retail stores from time to time. I think you are infected... I mean, your computer.

Again - SpySweeper is worth every penny, even if you have to pay for it. I bet it will find at least a few trojans on yours.

BTW - do the scans in Safe Mode, remove the malware, reboot, scan again.

Also, if you haven't got antivirus software, get some installed/configured/updated, then run a full scan with that too. My favorite is Kaspersky AntiVirus, which isn't free, but they do have a free fully-functional 30-day trial version: http://usa.kaspersky.com/trial....php&chapter=146481750 Remove any other antivirus software first, then install that and scan the system.

Another good resource: Secunia's online vulnerability checkup Do you lock the doors on your computer, but then leave the windows rolled down, so to speak? ;) Find out.

I don't know if its infected. I think it may be an issue with firefox. When it stalls in firefox i open IE and it loads right up. I do remember updating firefox recently too so maybe it is that. I will run some scans just to be on the safe side.

I'd uninstall firefox, clean the registry and then reinstall firefox. If that won't work then Id unistall firefox, clean he registry, and try an earlier version of firefox. But personally, I'd just use IE. I never saw what the big deal was with firefox besides the tabbed browsing. Now that IE has tabs I don't see any reason people would want to use it.

if it turns out you ARE infected with something, you should probably get some antibiotics or something so all of us don't catch it.

:D
