Am I helping or not? WTF!?

Sorry, but I downloaded, installed, and have been running the dnet program for RC5 for the past 3 weeks. Anyway, I flush my buffers nearly every day, if not every other. Well, according to my stats page, it says I have been running for 5 days, and I don't believe any of the numbers has changed. I only just joined the anandtech team last weekend, but I have seen no difference before or after joining. Please let me know if I am doing something wrong, I hate to think I am keeping up my computer for nothing.

Here is my stats page... http://stats.distributed.net/rc5-64/psummary.php3?id=322993

BTW, I have a Tbird 850 with 256mb ram and cable connection, if that makes any difference.

We need a little more info - are you flushing to the TA proxy or straight to D.net?

Also maybe some screen output from the client when it attempts to flush may be useful, but if the buffers are being emptied correctly and your email ID is still correctly entered into the client, it could be an error at D.net's end.

You've been doing OGR up until the 24th. In order to do just RC5, add the following to your ini file, and restart the client:

[misc]
project-priority=RC5,OGR=0,DES=0,CSC=0

Russ, NCNE

Well spotted Russ, didn't think of that (ie. not having project preference - I always use xxx=0 to define the active project).

Well, you guys know what you are talking about. I just flushed, and what did I see but OGR information. I have no idea what it is or what I was doing, but obviously wasting a lot of time. After the change, I see that I am doing RC5 now. So I take it I did it correctly now...

Anyway, what the hell is the OGR, and is Anandtech not part of it? I guess I'm looking for anyway to make the past couple of weeks worth it.

OGR is a different distributed computer project, and, yes, Anand has a team for that also. You do have to sign up to a team through distributed.net to make sure you work gets credited to that team. Welcome aboard!

theanimala, if you joined Team AnandTech RC5 team, then your OGR blocks will automatically be credited to the Team AnandTech OGR team. So those 2 weeks weren't wasted after all (the OGR guys needed a little help anyway 🙂)

Oh yeah... Welcome to the team!!!!!!!!!!!11 😀

theanimala, you've definitely not been wasting your time, we value your contribution to the OGR TeAm too. In all cases, it goes to Team Anantech in the end. Just choose the project you like most.

Thanks for the replies guys. I guess I don't care which one I do more, I just wanted to make sure that something was getting done, you know what I mean? I guess RC5 makes me feel like I am getting more done because it goes through the work units much faster the the OGR units.

Anyway, I definately joined the team so those points should be credited. Regardless of which board I post on I always get quick and friendly responses, so that's why I wanted to support this board.
