Am I good to go for crysis?

Not only that but Crysis has also what's called "in-game settings" where can you reduce the demands of the game for your system. Most people like to play everything at their highest settings when their system some times can't, and then those persons also some times wonder why it plays slow... no wonder if they'd at least try on lower settings. And this is not pointing at you EvilSponge, I'm just mentioning this for anyone concerned. And to answer your actual question directly, yes, your system is good to go for Crysis.
 
Yes I have not found the game to be anywhere near as demanding as I expected and am playing it at 1920x1200 with everything on high (but no AA) and it is very smooth. I could probably turn at least 2xAA on, but I don't really think it is necessary.

You've got plenty of power there, my system (see sig.) is able to run it ~30fps for most of the game with the dx9 tweak, I put everything on Very High except shadows on Medium @ 1680 x 1050. It was fun, beat it I now have no reason to play it. Except I just built a system last night for a friend and I was able to get 30-45 fps on DX10 with ALL settings on VERY HIGH, here's the specs:

E8400 @ 3.0Ghz (stock)
Abit P35-E
Crucial Ballistix 2 x4 GB DDR2 6400 @ 800Mhz
EVGA 9800 GX2 <---- Can't justify the $$$ for my own system...

I haven't delivered it to my friend yet but I think he will be very pleased...

**Edit** I don't recommend building a pc just for Crysis as the game was disappointing in the end. But the parts you plan on getting will be solid for any of the other great games out there. Just an FYI the system I built for my friend cost him $1450 shipped, parts from various places on the net. Also, was built from ground up including case drives psu...

No, your Extreme music x-fi is your weak point, that's sooo going to bottleneck your system. Also whats with the lame GFX card. You need SLI. Well unless you are going to play on low settings.

Sorry get a faster system.
 
My Radeon 2900 Pro overclocks to 800mhz on the core and has a 512 bit memory bus. Therefore it is better then your 8800GTX. OP, I'll tell you what... you give me your card and $50 and I will give you my 2900 Pro so you can play Crysis. Deal?

I think it was just someone who recently built a new computer, OCedit and wanted some attention. The simplest search would show you could play Crysis with plenty of computers.

I think it was just someone who recently built a new computer, OCedit and wanted some attention. The simplest search would show you could play Crysis with plenty of computers.

Yeah. Or even looking at the system req's on the box / game site.
 
I've put off on playing this because I want eye candy to the max.

With settings on all high, no aa, no af, 1680 x1050, what fps can I expect on my system?

Perfectly playable. 20s-30s. Turn down post processing, water, and shadows and that'll go up significantly.
 
Wow thanks guys lots of info. I am guilty of not doing a search because I got lazy. I have heard from other sources that Crysis was super demanding on systems. What I should have wrote was can I play it on the highest settings with my rig. Which sounds like I can. Sorry about the confusion and no not looking for attention I had the current PC built Dec 2007 what is new is the Q6600 I was waiting for Q9450 but to me not worth the extra $130.00 just wanted to hear from people who know. Thanks again guys!
