Am I going to kill my 2000+ Palomino running at 59C?

Hello,

I'm running a 2000+ Palomino in my shuttle XPC SN41G2. I replaced the fan in the back with a panaflo L1A. Before I made the switch, my load temp was 53C. However, now it is closer to 59C and I'm wondering if I could kill it if it ran that hot? Granted it is only 6 degrees warmer, but I'm uncomfortable with it because the max temp is 90C on the die and I'm not sure how accurate that temp reading is or if it is reading off the die. I'm using Motherboard Monitor to watch the temp.

Thanks.

hmm..well, i had my 2100+ palomino running at like 65c-70c..its still running now, but in a different pc. i think it should be fine, but i would prefer my temps to be lower

mines at 63. it really doesn't matter, the chip is next to worthless now and dropping fast. by the time it dies it really will be worthless.

doubtful. you'd see a lockup if it were really overheating.

try overclocking your chip, it locks up when it hits a limit.

btw that 63deg is under full load using just a 12cfm cpu fan. i just tried turning all my case fans/psu fans to max speed, and i only lowered the temp by 3 degrees. hah, pointless.

true. I plan on cutting the back grille, but I'm going to be rather busy for the next few days.

I noticed that the Palominos are very hot. And it does not matter what you do. The Tbreds are also hot but only about 3C lower. At least for me so far.

I've oc'd my palomino 2000+ to 1754Mhz (just about as far as it could go) and its at 51C at full load. And I thought I'd overdone it! I guess not! By the way, the thermal diode temp reading is not as accurate as you think. It can be off by as much as 10C. so I'd be careful. Of course, now that you can get a Tbred-B 1700+ for roughly $42 and OC it to 2800+ status, the palomino doesn't seem worth much!

I remember reading somewhere that the maximum (and I mean MAXIMUM) temperature for AMD Athlons was ~90C. When it gets that hot, the CPU is dead. At that temperature, the core literally melts, or something like that. All Athlons seem to run hot, yours maybe a little hotter than mine, but hey, if it doesn't lockup, you're good.

well when frys sells ecs m/b with 2000+ tbred for like 69 together. you know your chip is worth zero.
