I just ordered a SK6 with 8K RPM Delta(50cfm, 54dba), i'm planning to get some nice headphones that will cover my ears and get rid of my speakers, do you guys think it will still be loud? Right now i'm using a Global Win CAK38 heatsink w/ AMD Fan(20cfm, 27dba i think)

Both case covers will be off, i'm hoping it's not too bad. Also, has anyone tried putting a blue orb on the northbridge of an Iwill KK266 series? I ordered one too, hoping it will fit.

nasty nasty nasty.

i just use a low speed 80mm fan on my SK6, so much quieter, and nearlly the same performance as my old noisy 60mm.

insane? no.

deaf? yes.

The fan won't make you go deaf -- blasting music loud enough to drown out that Delta through headphones will. You don't need to worry about going insane at least, 'cause you must already have a touch of insanity to consider that combo. :D

its not that loud.... I had one before it broke (I dropped another fan on it as it was running. I've never hit the power switch on the PSU so fast before :)) If I play music, I couldn't hear the fan over it. And this is keeping my music really really quiet, cause my mother has the ears of a dog. (she makes me keep it so slow that the subwoofer isn't even triggered and I can barely make out the lyrics.... grrr)

Do you need that much cooling? I don't overclock and I've traded the noisy CPU cooler fans for some older, k6 era fans. May have lost a couple of degrees cooling, but so much quieter...

ukDave: How did you attach the 80 mm fan? Just lay it on top?
