Lots of people feel like this. I know I do.
A lot of games just don't have that "new" feel to them now. It's usually the same crap, with a fresh skin a lot of times.
I'll be 32 this year and my gaming interest has taken a serious plummet. I get excited about a game coming out only to learn that I've already played it. It just has a different name now.
I miss how intriguing and engrossing the games were. Escape from Monkey Island, Wing Commander, the original Command and Conquer, Diablo...then the FPS stuff: Doom, Hexen (which...was a doom rehash), then BattleZone. OMG I killed days, no weeks....or months playing BattleZone online non stop. Killed my GPA for a bit too. Stupid thing to do really. That perhaps was the most refreshing game I had ever played. Then they murdered it with a subpar sequel.
Then the MMO stuff hit me and then soon after that...pay as you play. That gets old. Fast.
But I still am paying on a couple. Have had EVE since beta. Lineage II. I didn't want to do the grind anymore so I stopped with the really grind intensive games. I'm too casual now to spend hours at a time leveling a toon. Marriage, longer work hours, bills and a home to take care of has diminished what time I did have to myself. New hobbies (nitro RC truggy) have taken that time as well.
It's for the better I think. It gets me out of the house and doing things.
I'm holding out for the game that rekindles the "fun" factor for me.
I've got boxes of games (many with original packaging) that I should go thru and put up on Ebay to see if I can get a few bucks for 'em. I got some goodies I know would fetch a few bucks.
