I saved $300 by switching to Geico!

Not really, I have AAA. Pay ~1100/year on a 2001 explorer in the bay area.

Perfect driving record, but I'm under 25 so they charge me more.

That one ticket if it's only 2 points shouldn't affect your insurance. Anything over 2 and that's when they start assessing a 10% penalty for every point over 2.

I have AAA, they'll give you a discount if you belong to a credit union and another if you have house insurance through them.

I've heard that the insurance at Costco through american express is super cheap. I've been meaning to try them out.

I have no idea what that means.

I have liability, collision, comprehensive, and gap insurance.

what do you expect?

Newish car? Its 5 years old.

Poor record? One ticket in 6 years is not that bad compared to the general population, right?

It's still quite newish IMHO. It'll cost them a good deal of money to replace if you crash it, yes? I assume you've got more than just liability coverage...

But then again, every car I've owned was built in the 80s.

You REALLY shouldn't have let that ticket get on your record.

I only have liability. And I don't think I even got points on my record for that ticket because I agreed to attend a driving improvement workshop and no points. I am 100% sure i am getting ripped off now. Gonna call a few other companies to find out....

I remember the ticket being 2 points and even that should have been off my record as I agreed to attend the driving improvement workshop. I don't understand this. Grrr. I am 95% sure its living in DC. Fvck this city. Crime rate is one of the highest in the country. I hate it.

rip off for me, hell yes.

will my parents cover, no. my dad clearly stated that I have to learn how to cover myself as an adult. I agreed with him and walked out the door with motives to increase determination to survive.

well now, with rent and school and trying to pay for DSL and a cell phone, what do we have here... broke as hell.

p.s. I have two jobs and hours of homework a day, but somehow I still manage to have a faster computer than even my college friends who call themselves PC gamers.

I'm like wtf, my friend is running world of warcraft on his integrated laptop graphics, ROFL

You see the problem here?

Clean driving record, liablity (100/300/100), comprehensive, collision, uninsured, underinsured, gap coverage, $500 deductable comprehensive, $1k collision.
$550-$560/6 months through esurance. Told esurance I will be driving 20k miles/yr.

When I was looking for insurance, esurance was the cheapest for me. Who think that AAA wanted to charge me $2200 for same coverages for the year, or Allstate wanted to charge me $800/6 months. With esurance, you are giving up customer service for a bargain bin price to cover your ass.

You're also probably going through a lower grade carrier that will give you all kinds of trouble if you make a claim.

I was in your situation a few years ago and did the same thing. The price difference just wasn't worth it.

no wonder... :)

you are 25+, have no tickets, and your car is probably cheaper than mine.

My mother's SUV (Expedition) is only ~40 dollars a month! I pay over 130 (I am 18, one at fault accident, no totaled vehicle though, I think it fell off the record)
