O lord. Around my 4th inkjet printer in about 3 years is failing me. Ever text printout is coming out very light dark and portions of the individuals letters do not print out or have horizontal lines across them. No matter what I do, no matter how high the quality or how many times I clean teh printheads, it still will not produce results as the day that I got the printer or even from a couple of weeks ago.
Am I cursed?
I had an Epson Sylus 600, some canon, HP Deskjet 842C, and now the canon s200 have all failed on me in simillar way. Is it just me or are inkjet printers unreliable?
Should I just get a $150 laser printer and sleep peacefully?

I had a "similiar" scenario. I had an Epson Stylus 700 fail on me (after 4-5 months use) so I replaced it with an HP PCS2100, it failed to operate after setup, so I exchanged it for another. Brought home the replacement and plugged it in, guess what? Failed to operate also, I was pretty pissed of having two in a row not working so I then picked up an EPSON 3200CX. It has been working "OK", once in a while the scanner light fails to turn on so it informs me that it needs servicing (go figure). Other than that and the insanely expensive ink carts, it does a "decent" job.

My primary printer use to be an Apple Personal Laserwriter, laser printers own.

tid bit: if you own an epson/cannon printer, you can get dirt cheap ink carts at www.monsterinkjets.com. They take forever to ship (took about 10 days to get my shipment), but the ink carts work. (bought 3 black/ 3 color, saved $120+):)

Don?t feel ya man. I still have a Canon BJC-250 that is 7 years old, and it still prints B&W like a charm (albeit slowly, and low resolution in color), served me all thru Bachelors, and my Master, and is now serving the wifey thru college. Got an Epson Photo Stylus 825, and have gone thru 25 color cartridges in 5 months without any issues at all. I have had a HP Deck Jet laser, and an Okidata Laser fail on me within 2 months of purchase, so I guess I am unlucky with lasers. We equal out the universe, and balance the cosmos :).
