Am I crazy, or does it seem counterproductive to use 1 giant heatsink covering both the video card chip and ram? Wouldn't this transfer some of the core's heat to the ram... and isn't it really the ram that we want to keep cool and get the most overclocking out of (seeing as that's the real bottleneck)?

I don't know if my theory will hold, but we'll soon see as I don't think the Visiontek or Elsa use a single heatsink, whereas the Leadtek and a few other do. We'll know once someone does a comprehensive overclocking comparison.

Yeh..

I think the height of the vid chip and RAM chips are different on the card, so if you try to attach the HS, it may not line up and wont cool all them chips properly. The RAM chips usually tend not heat up. It's the Video core chip that heats up greatly so...

Im using a GBHS (Great Big Heat Sink) on my Vid card's core chip and keep the case sides open to retain stability @ 152fsb for gaming. Here's the pic and look for the video card's hsf. BTW, this anandtech's hyperlink option suxx.. i tried to put link and wont work, so u'll have to copy n paste my url.. http://www.geocities.com/shkg20t/rig.jpg
