I'm not sure where you are looking but my local Home Depot has 8-10 floor fans, all with aluminum/steel blades and sealed ball bearings.

 
If it's as powerful as you say it is and it improves the comfort in your house, go for it! I know the sort of fans you're talking about. We have some metal fans ourselves though they're smaller (like the kind you would set on a table)...they're excellently made.

Plus, they look better 🙂

I'll admit, I haven't checked out the local Home Depot. I'm guessing anything they have anyway won't have specs anyhow...

Do they carry Air King by chance?
